Good for Colin - blind patriotism is dangerous
Report: 49ers likely to jettison Kaepernick, for football reasons

Colin Kaepernick has suddenly become the most controversial player in the NFL because of his refusal to stand for the national anthem. But there may be another issue that could cost him his job in San Francisco: He’s not a very good quarterback.
Jay Glazer said on FOX that the 49ers are deeply concerned with Kaepernick’s decline as a player, which started last season when he struggled before getting benched, then got even worse this offseason when he lost significant muscle mass when he couldn’t work out following multiple surgeries.
“Regardless of politics or not, he has a very, very big uphill battle to make this team,” Glazer said. “I’d be shocked if he’s on the 49ers by the time this season ends. It has nothing to do with political views whatsoever. He lost a ton of weight this offseason, had three surgeries, couldn’t work out, lost that double threat, that size-speed ratio. No political views, he just hasn’t been effective. He’s regressing as a player. I’d be shocked if he’s on this roster by the end of this year. He may not be on it in the next two weeks.”
Kaepernick’s contract guarantees him an $11.9 million salary this season, and ordinarily a player with an $11.9 million guaranteed salary isn’t going to get cut. But if the 49ers really think Kaepernick has regressed to the point where they’d be better off with Blaine Gabbert starting and Christian Ponder and Jeff Driskel backing Gabbert up, then they can save a little money by cutting Kaepernick and hoping he signs with another team, as they would be able to reduce that $11.9 million by the amount of Kaepernick’s salary with a new team.
So there are football reasons that the 49ers might want to get rid of Kaepernick. At this point, they probably wish they had done so before this weekend’s non-football controversy.
I don't mind Kaep's anti-american heel gimmick, I can't get over cum stain blaine being an nfl starter tho. I used to say that he was the worst backup in the league.
rofl at that roster of quarterbacks
how do you end up with ponder and fucking jeff driskel thats fucking hilarious
I don't think Kaep is that bad. He went to the superbowl once, and would've again if he didn't pass the ball to that sorry ass receiver michael crabtree. I don't think you can do what he did in his first 2 years unless you got some game. I might be wrong tho.
kape is easily their best option but fuck this guy now
fuck that. sitting through the nation anthem is a great gimmick. I hope the vikes pick him up. As it stands, we have the worst backup in the league in shaun hill
i dont like my black qbs uppity bro
Kaep reminds me of David Duval in golf. Duval actually was poised to be a real competitor of Tiger Woods in the early 2000s. He absolutely fell apart overnight, just like Kaep. Duval was a fucking jerk in his prime. I took great pleasure in reading a couple years back when his home was getting foreclosed on. In a few years I am very hopeful I read the same about Colin.
Obligatory JimmyG, is this true?
Lets point out the more obvious facts.. Harbaugh came in and went to 3 straight NFC title games and a SB against his brother.. Balke and Harbaugh had a pissing contest and Harbaugh "lost".. Although since then its become obvious Harbaugh was the real reason why the team was successful as its been an absolute abortion since then.. How the fuck Balke hasn't been lit on fire and hung by ownership is beyond me. Must be something nasty he has on ownership to have kept his job this far.
Well said....

you fuckin toddlers
Believe it or not, I'm actually not outraged by his refusal to stand during the Anthem.
If he wants to use that as a form of protest, that's fine. There shouldn't be required patriotism in this country.
However, I take more issue with him doing this while being paid millions to play football. Freedom of speech does NOT exist at work. This is what idiots like Daniel Colman and Olivier Busquet didn't understand when they wanted to wear "FREE PALESTINE" shirts on televised final tables, and Pokerstars told them they couldn't. Private companies have the right to establish a code of behavior at work, and that includes suppressing your speech if they feel it will upset customers or co-workers.
If the 49ers were okay with it, I guess it's fine that he did it, but I also think it was stupid and counterproductive. Honestly, the Niners should have a rule against doing things like this because it's disruptive and can hurt their brand.
These spoiled brats being paid millions per year need to understand that they are partially being paid that much to represent their team in a positive fashion. If they cannot bring themselves to do that, they should quit their high-profile position and go work a regular, low-visibility, 5-figure-paying job like most other people in this country, and then they can do all the protesting they want in their spare time. When you accept big money to represent a major sports team, keeping your obnoxious actions in check comes with the territory, especially if you're not all that good of a player in the first place.
I don't think it should be "ignored". It is worthy of discussion, and the team should be disciplining him for it.
He also deserves all of the backlash he is getting from angry fans, much like the idiot Dixie Chicks deserved the backlash they got for bashing the President during a concert in a foreign country.
If you are a highly-paid, high-profile figure, you need to understand that appealing to the masses is an important thing, and intentional controversial behavior is going to drive people away from you.
However, I also believe that this isn't a major issue, but rather just an idiot who is committing career suicide and also engaging in a lot of hypocrisy.
If you listen to his little "interview" you can tell this moron is dumb as a box of fucking rocks. He wouldn't know an injustice if it hit him right in that big yonker on his face. You don't have to look any further than what shirt this dumb fuck was wearing WHILE DOING SAID INTERVIEW ON "OPPRESSION".......one that had a picture of Fidel Castro on it!! This imbecile was giving a lecture to the media about the "injustice" in the good ol US of A whole wearing a shirt with the picture of a fucking dictator communist who is famous for OPPRESSING an entire country of people!
what? please explain a bit. how is he being hypocritical? the fucking police are OUT OF CONTROL here. and he's a public figure. he's making a stand.
he's using his celebrity for the good of all of us. people are more outraged at him then what he's protesting against. doesn't that say something?
yeah we get it, the NFL is a business, and free speech doesn't exist yadda yadda yadda.
what if he did this on twitter? would that suffice?
in this country, you have the right not to stand and say our national anthem. you know why? because we're a free country.
you know who else pulled this kinda shit, making people believe they are 100% supposed to support the country they live in no matter what? The nazis.
If he were just a fan in the stands of the stadium, yes, he has a right to sit down in protest.
However, he is being paid many millions to represent a major sports team.
He doesn't get to make the rules regarding ability to protest and associate their brand with his radical views.
If he wants to do that, he shouldn't be an NFL player.
I will gladly take $12 million per year and be willing to keep my mouth shut about anything controversial while doing so.
and if he's doing this knowing full well the consequences of his actions, then even better.
it's not totally civil disobedience, but it's in the same football stadium.
It's not liberty.
I would never state anything I didn't believe in exchange for money, nor would I promote/support a company I felt was dishonest.
However, if I'm at work and getting paid big money, I'm not going to decide to create my own rules and use THEIR stage to showcase my political views. That's not fair to my employer, who is paying me a fortune to represent them.
Unfortunately the patriotism angle is muddying the real issue here, and that's the fact that nobody has the right to "protest" political issues while on the clock at work.
When you are at work, you are being paid to STFU and do your job. Period.
This would be more understandable if his protest was related to some kind of injustice he was facing on the job, but it wasn't. Instead, he is just inserting his politics where they do not belong and alienating fans, despite getting paid $12 MILLION to work for them.
Now he's put the 49ers in an awful position where they shouldn't have been in the first place.
Basically, he's a selfish and ungrateful asshole.
COLIN KAEP IS A CRAZY MORON. hes making BLM look worse, anybody that follows football has known he was a dipshit and a joke for quite some time and is definitely past the point of anybody that follows football caring what he has to say
LOLiberals on my Facebook calling Kaepernick a "patriot" for what he did.
And they're not joking.
That's pathetic
That poor old NFL. That just makes me sick how they are struggling with herding in their unruly players. Whatever will they do? I hope they make it out of this.
Druff I think you can find other people or even groups more worthy your sympathy. If they kick him out of the league and then he freaks out we then yeah I agree with you. But that hasn't happened.
This reminds me of the 90's when Chris Jackson of the Nuggets converted to Islam and started going by M. Abdul Rauf.
Haha imagine if this wasnt a Black Lives Matters thing. It's bizarre to me that someone with Kaepernicks background would become a Black Lives Matter person after being raised as if he's white. You would think being abandoned by blacks would stick with you and sting the rest of your life.
Orrrr I guess depending on his personality his upbringing could have lead to being looked at sideways by real black people since freshman year of college and now he feels the need to overcompensate.
If you hear him in interviews he has this very unnatural way of speaking similar to no one I can think of. The closest sounding is a 90's wiggers type accent.
OMFG! So he supposedly DID convert to Islam. Is that widely known? I didn't see that part on SportsCenter.
https://conservativedailypost.com/co...e-coincidence/
Also apparently has donated ZERO dollars to Black Lives Matters. HAHAHAAHAHA
Of course I do my due diligence and never believe anything until it at least appears on NBC or CBS.
If this is true people are gonna freak the fuck out so much worse than this little BLM b.s. if this is true. This isn't the 90's when Rauf pulled this and no one cared near as much about the Muslim stuff He even sorta looks like he could pass as Bin Laden's son.
Tight quadruple post I know but they are all good so fuck off.
This is what I get for blindly believing anything without looking for myself.
I just listened to this whole insanely long horrible interview and guess what?
He never came at white people.
Yup, she really owned him!

I'm stocking up on popcorn tommorow in hopes this becomes a Muslim thing. God that will be a good show. Ratings will skyrocket. Hopefully I can just smoke weed and embrace the distraction for as long as possible. Shit's so funny.
