Pirates defense is a human rights issue now
When Pirates bullpen comes in the Brewers will go to work on them with a blow torch and pliers. The run line is not an outrageous idea
I just have a minute but wanted to thank San for making me pay attention to the Marlins, particularly their offense. One of those teams you gloss over if you aren’t paying attention. They have been my most profitable team. You can get them +165 tied 2-2 last night. The books somehow think they won’t score 3 most days. This series against SF has been super profitable.
NL has a weak ROY candidate field this year.
Last season it was the battle of the titans with Jackson Merrill and Paul Skenes.
This year, things are so bad with NL rookies that Jacob Misiorowski, who has pitched 3 games, is the current favorite.
You might want to look at Agustin Ramirez of the Marlins. He has 12 HR in 55 games, and can get hot very quickly. He's a streaky hitter, but given the weak class, mainly competing with Drake Baldwin (who isn't even starting every day) and Misiorowski (who just got going).
Nobody pitcher Sean Hjelle, known for being very tall, was demoted from the Giants to the minors today.
He faced some controversy recently when his wife posted to social media that he had been repeatedly cheating on her and that she had endured "years of abuse": https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...-giants-hjelle
However, she did not specify the type of abuse, and it's very possible that the "abuse" was simply neglect and infidelity.
I have no doubt that Hjelle was really cheating on her, but I suspect the "abuse" part will end up being a nothingburger. Regardless, the Giants demoted him because he wasn't that good anyway, and his presence was becoming a hassle.
Amazingly that an unsubstantiated social media post from an angry ex can cause a player this much hassle nowadays. It's different than a situation where there is legit evidence of abuse, or at least serious allegations which would require investigation.
Nobody takes the All Star Game seriously anymore nor watches it. Fewer players deign to even show up.
That said, Mookie Betts as an All Star short stop this year is a joke.
Manipulation by big fan bases is legal by the rules but not helpful in growing the game much less interest in the ASG
Game is broken and it saddens me.
MLB should have something like a NHL Canada all stars vs USA all stars. When players and fans give a fuck all stars will be more carefully selected.
Dodgers Teo Hernandez is another fraud ALL Star. Goofed a fly ball to right just this game. Allowed two runs.
Took James Wood’s slot. Like anyone wants to watch Teo instead of Wood
Just terrible
The online voting system is a disaster and needs to be abolished or severely modified.
It's sad that we live in a time where we got more accurate voting in the 1980s with the paper ballots you'd be handed out at the stadium.
Yes, Dodgers fans have manipulated voting, even putting Conforto possibly in the running at one point (which would have been hilarious, to be honest).
Mookie never fully recovered from the Influenza A SuperAIDS from spring training. Not his fault, but his numbers don't bear any kind of accolades this year.
The Dodgers going to the All-Star game should be Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Freeman. Muncy would qualify if we could disregard his pre-glasses era, but we can't. Teoscar would qualify if we had pre-injury Teoscar and not the post-injury version. But we can't.
Maybe I could be talked into including Pages and Edman. Edman's numbers don't really do it, but he's been incredibly clutch the entire year, and very versatile. Pages had a horrible start, but he's had a long period of success this year than Muncy, and his overall numbers are better.
Pages has a nice WAR. Yet no fan can ignore the one or two stupid plays Pages makes every game. Usually on the base paths.
Pretty sure he was thrown out trying to steal yesterday. The boneheaded plays all run together. Maybe I misremember
Edman, the “World Series MVP”, is entitled to a free pass. Not the same guy as 2024 but we like him.
Nick Martinez, one of the worst MLB pitchers in June, went 8 1/3 with no hits and 1 walk, but Elias Diaz just broke it up.
Cease got bombed.
Lol Padres
Bad news... if you had u29.5 in the Orioles game tonight, you lost.

Smoke definitely not from the Pirates' bats
We will see if Ohtani wants to bat top of the order tomorrow. He needs to let the Dodgers know so they can fill the lineup card out correctly.
The contrarian in me is fading Ohtani and my therapist doesn’t take calls on the weekend.
KC are such a light hitting group. However
BTTS F3 1+ +150
#fake sharps
You can pay for that fade with MIA (Alcantara) +123
You might be onto something with Alcantara.
His overall numbers are horrid, but he's run off 4 decent starts in a row.
Ohtani will probably go 2 innings. Roberts won't comment on it, but that's my guess.
On a side note, I'm kinda getting convinced that both the Padres (dysfunctional) and Giants (lacking talent) will fade in the second half, and neither will make the postseason.
I think the 6 NL teams in the playoffs will be Dodgers, Mets, Cubs, Brewers, Cardinals, and Phillies.
Went to Yankee game vs A's Judge hit 2 homeruns. I haven't been in a really long time the speakers were sooooooo loud. Parked in bronx garage very seedy neighborhood People on stoops and blaring music.
Disgraced MLB Pitcher Trevor Bauer Got Absolutely Lit Up By The Worst Team In Japan’s NPB. Had the patented Bauer tantrum and got assigned to their minor league team.
Bauer is by the numbers the worst pitcher in the league. The end is nigh.
Yet simultaneously he leaves us this. One of the greatest baseball shorts ever.
https://youtube.com/shorts/j8az4I8L-...8gJVESGg7q83Xt
Bauer never had Tommy John. Both he and his father have pitching PhD’s compared to Mark Prior. Let Bauer “coach” in LA.
@BCR
The Marlins ML money truck is sitting in first place last 10 with 75% ROI.
Marlins are in a 5 way tie for ROI team total. I must confess the nit in me always looks there first but it has only been 35% ROI.
The artist formerly known as Mookie - his bat speed now oof. SuperAids is no joke
Judge 77. Teo/Pages 72. Betts 68
Oneil Cruz swings bat too fast that why he strikes out. Lulz. He’s a carnival sideshow
Fun to take a gander whilst you bet Jazz Chisholm HR at +EV +475

If you gave me 100 guesses what would have fucked up Mookie Betts this year, I would not have picked "Influenza A SuperAIDS destroys his body during spring training" as a possibility.
Seriously... what healthy, in shape guy in his early 30s has this happen to them? Never seen this before with any athlete. Just not the same player this year.
Anyway, Chase Burns got KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT in Boston today.
1/3 inning, 7 R, 5 ER
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=914H9JNTK7s
I was listening to the local Red Sox radio play by play. The guys in the booth suspected in real time that Red Sox manager, Alex Cora, had a read on Chase Burns. They felt Chase was tipping his pitches cause he was so nervous. Alex Cora’s knack for reading pitchers is legendary if not infamous.
Burns is not The Miz but he will be fine, I think.
Happy Bobby Bonilla DAY, if there any youngins hanging around here and doesn't know what this is... it was one of the first deferred payment structured contracts in MLB, Bonilla still receives a check from the NYM for $1.19 million dollars every July 1st until the year 2035, hasn't played since 2001....
The calendar has turned to July 1, and that means one thing: It's time for Mets fans everywhere to wish each other a Happy Bobby Bonilla Day! Why? On Tuesday, 62-year-old Bobby Bonilla will collect a check for $1,193,248.20 from the New York Mets, as he has and will every July 1 from 2011 through 2035.

well in reality Bobby should buy his agent a gift every July 1st... Bobby does give his agent credit in this short clip...Quote:
Sanlmar: Was I supposed to buy a gift?

Good news for Sanlmar.
Mookie is losing in Phase 2, as is Tommy Edman, as is Muncy. Teoscar is #4 among outfielders, while Pages is #6.
Dodgers would still have 3 starters in the lineup with Ohtani, Freeman, and Smith. It wouldn't surprise me if they were rigging these others to lose, so as to not look ridiculous that almost the entire NL starter squad is comprised of Dodgers.
just funny:
https://x.com/JomboyMedia/status/193...000326406.html
Faggot needs a pro player coming to his work and fucking with his shit.
The voters listened to you, San. Mookie will (likely) not take the field in the All Star Game.

Reserves will be chosen later, as will pitchers. I am guessing no Dodgers will be chosen as reserves, given they have 3 starters already, except possibly Andy Pages because he's got a good story.
I wonder if the NL will choose Misiorowski as a pitcher, even though he's had 4 starts. There are a number of good NL starters they can pick this year, though, including some surprise success stories such as Robbie Ryan, Matt Boyd, and Clay Holmes. Obviously Wheeler, Skenes, Yamamoto, and Sale are going.
Pretty surprised Javy Baez was picked. He has a .783 OPS.
Ronald Acuna has had only 123 AB, but at least he's hit very well in his limited action.
No surprise that Judge/Ohtani were lead vote-getters. They're both on their way to back-to-back MVPs.
Thank goodness this broadcast of 3000 wasn’t marred by Joe Davis in the booth. Was I really gonna have to follow the record listening to White Sox broadcast?
Let’s see if dodgers can spare Kershaw the embarrassing L for time immemorial
Kershaw will absolutely be the last 3000 so pretty special take tonight
Wow, what a way to end.
Nice for Kershaw that his accomplishment won't be marred by, "Well, he got to 3000, BUT... he also lost to the White Sox while at home!"
Instead, Dodgers plated 3 in the bottom of the 9th to walk it off, and not even on the HR ball.
Almost 100% Kershaw retires this year if he can play in the World Series, and the Dodgers win it. That's all he wants now -- to get a World Series ring in a full season where he actually contributes. Last year felt like a non-accomplishment to him, from a personal standpoint.
Otherwise, he has over 200 wins (but nowhere near 250), he has 3000 K, and he's 37 years old and physically hurting. He'd really like to get that ring he's part of, and stroll out of MLB for good with his 2.51 career ERA, 1.012 WHIP, over 200 wins, and over 3000 K.
That 2016 season where he pitched 149 innings and walked 11 (!!) still amazes me.
If Kershaw got his 3000 and the Dodgers lost the conversation would have this day being the perfect metaphor for Kershaw’s career.
I’m actually glad things turned out as they did. There is no point to piling on Kershaw any more. Ellen and the kids. The Kershaw class. I think he’s found peace with his career. He’s a good guy.
Ellen just did an interview of her husband. His habits and superstitions. What he is like mood-wise on game day. I need to find it.
NL central kinda took over from AL Central last year, but gotta show some love for a walk off bunt.

Two things of note:
Dodgers have dropped 7 straight, after opening up what seemed like another insurmountable NL West lead. Much of the problem, as you'd expect, has been the pitching. However, the offense has also scuffled, with Ohtani not being himself, Betts still suffering the after-effects of the Influenza SuperAIDS, and Teoscar Hernandez having no power stroke since coming back from injury. Oh, and Max Muncy has gone down after finally getting hot post-glasses.
Jacob Misiorowski is an All-Star after 5 MLB games. What a world.
Healthy Buxton really is a joy to watch. 5-5, hits for cycle on his bobblehead day.
We wrote last year about Dodgers finally cashing a World Series before the window closed. The big spends on Snell and Glasnow saved lives and careers. Unless MLB has a senior event Friedman knew that was it for this iteration. Betts is just getting old.
The debate about keeping the Golden Glove in right field vs shortstop is/was nonsense. Betts at this point in his career would no longer be the Golden Glove outfielder. There was even talk last year from Dave Roberts about the extra steps each inning it took to walk out to right filedfrom the dugout. Too taxing for an aging Betts. The fabled Dodgers analytics staff had actually considered this.
There will always be flashes of the former great athlete but time is undefeated.
Meanwhile, your predilection for nostalgia is evident once again. The Miz and Kershaw in the All Star Game is further proof the ASB is just the Savannah Bananas for 8 year olds and you.
Aspire to be a more serious baseball fan. Do it for all of us.
Congrats on Dodgers stealing one from their big brother last night. You must be relieved.
