Somehow I just learned that "You Got It" was released AFTER Roy Orbison's death. I had always assumed he released it in 1988, and then died at the end of the year.
Nope.
He was having chest pain in November 1989, and he told only Johnny Cash about it. He didn't seek medical treatment, despite having a triple bypass operation in 1978, at the age of 41. Less month later, on December 4, he was feeling awful, but still forced himself to perform in Ohio. Again, he didn't seek medical treatment, and he died two days later of a heart attack, at the age of 52.
Not sure of 1988 medical technology could have saved him, but it might have. Many people went on to live decades after heart problems by getting help when signs of trouble show up. Pretty shocking that he ignored the late 1988 problems, given that he had a triple bypass a decade earlier.
"You Got It" was released in January 1989. He won a Grammy for it, and it reached #9 on the US charts. He never got to see any of that.

Great song. Did not know the back story so great post (for a dupe) as well. Consulting Johnny Cash re: health problems...priceless
Speaking of dupes the song title sounds like it was plagiarized, shout out to the Kinks.
