The only thing I’m sure about is he’s going to run on the left being weak on immigration. It will be issue #1.
He’s going to let this go on for long enough that it’s clear the democrats are the problem because they aren’t taking homeland security seriously.

Imo, the number one issue for 2020 will be the economy. But i don't think the debate over the economy will be as good for trump as he probably believes even if the stock market does well.
People vote for hope and change. It worked for obama. It worked for trump. After 4 years, voters will be able to see what's changed for them. If you're on Wall Street, you've probably done well. If you're the average trump voter (or average american in general), your life has probably not changed much.
The dems can then play the classic "us against them" argument -- i.e., "look at how well the trump tax cuts helped the wealthy. Now tell me if your life has improved. What do your medical expenses look like? How about your student loans?" Etc., etc. i'm not saying the dems are advancing great solutions for these issues. I'm just saying the dems will have powerful talking points.
