I talk to plenty of Dodger fans around the water cooler and at kids soccer practice, etc. I don't recall anyone carrying water for Kershaw this year. Everyone accepts that Father Time and back injuries have caught up to him and he isn't an ace anymore. If Kershaw had been named the starter instead of Buehler, Dodgers fans would have revolted. This isn't a Kobe situation where fans stubbornly stay on the Titanic as it sinks to the bottom.
Nationals +142 really does seem like a steal though. I don't think anyone expects the Dodgers to score more than 1-2 runs, so that is putting a lot of pressure on Buehler and a shaky pen.
Probably Dodgers and under would be a good parlay (I dont even know if they let you do MLB parlays) as if the Dodgers win it is most likely going to be a 2-1 type game.
did anyone see the stats with verlander pitching on 3 days rest. hideous numbers
Yes, all Dodgers fans are aware that Kershaw isn't Kershaw anymore, and never will be again.
It was apparent last year when his velocity dropped, never to return. He's been able to use his experience and reliance on other good pitches to still be reasonably good, but dominant Kershaw is gone.
The ace of the 2020s will be Walker Buehler. In fact, he's the ace of the late 2010s.
Strasburg is an amazing postseason pitcher who hasn't gotten credit for it because the Nats have never won a series. Dodgers have their work cut out for them tomorrow. Hopefully they can run up his pitch count and get to that horrendous bullpen. That should be their strategy.
The Minnesota Twins are 0-16 in the postseason since 2004.
Yes, 0-16.

Wow.
Let’s start with the good news cause I’m all about the sunshine. I like Buehler. Let’s not get all hyperbolic like you did with Urias. He’s got a bit of trick or treat in the regular season. What do you want for $570K?
In the big spots he’s been gritty lately in the playoffs. There was an interview he did yesterday that impressed me too. That’s a kid who pitches like he doesn’t care. Who loves the competition. Who embraces the big game. He’s a winner mentally.
Similarly, I like the Dustin May goofy lookin kid too. He just attacks. He’s got that blank stupid look which is prized in pitching.
After one of the recent playoff games they immediately ran “Truth Be Told: Rick Ankiel”. Fantastic. The documentary delved into his rough childhood and how his baseball ability rescued his self worth. When he fucked up during one playoff game he mentally collapsed. The yips ensued.
Reminds me of playoff Kershaw. We are always on the quest to explain his failure against the best competition. Expectations vs early Dodger playoff failure? Maybe he was simply over rated. We will never know for sure. It’s a results business so fuck him. Buehler ain’t Kershaw.
Which leads me to wonder how in gods name can you tell me Kershaw is slated to come off the bench tonight? How can this possibly be a good idea?. If these guys are analytics why are they throwing out the book tonight?
Bad playoff bullpens has been a Dodger brand for a decade now. It’s like a deliberate self sabotage. God they suck.
The 1st inning kids (GBCP & Simp) recall we messed around with Kershaw YES “a run will be scored in 1st”. Profitable

I can keep busting you and Kershaw up all day Druff.
This is gonna be remembered as the Yom Kippur Massacre.
god bless
There was a Kippur massacre, but it was the game before the Dodgers.
Booler
Kershaw
:lol
Kershaw
:lol
Kershaw has been grist for the forum for so long.
There really is no counter argument anymore.
Kinda sad
Oh yeah, Dodgers are the dumbest
It’s ok they will win the division again next year.
GO CARDS
<--------amirite?
we already won the stanley cup this year, also top top in the clap and gonorrhea, next stop world series???
Why was Kershaw pitching the 8th instead of Maeda?
:fail2
Amazingly, Joe Kelly was somehow unhittable in the 9th.
You know what would be a great bookend?
Jansen.
:lol
Not sure why we didn't see Kenley Jansen at any point during any of this trainwreck.
Joe Kelly beat the Dodgers in both 2018 and 2019.
Fitting.
:to
was very happy to see Kershaw coming into the game
life long choker
Jansen finally in.
:lol
Can we get a :choke
how many more years @ 30mil does LA have kershaw?
also,..this dodger team can't hit for chit
what a disappointment. this game was theirs
The empty seats bottom 10
Incredible
cards 5-2 against the nationals this year
dodgers are so fucking pathetic
no team with as many wins as the dodgers has ever lost the NLDS
:lol
as a young benjamin once said "the dodgers are spinning their wheels"
benjy is GOD /thread
People were calling this possible elimination at the hands of the Nationals end of August.
106 wins!!! what a great regular season team maybe the best ive ever seen
Horrible mismangement of pitching.
If you're going to leave Kershaw in for the 8th, you warm someone up behind him and pull him as soon as he looks suspect.
Jansen looked fine in his last outing. You got away with Kelly dominating the 9th, but why not put Jansen in (and have people warming up behind him) the second Kelly walks the first guy?
And then after Kelly loads 'em up with nobody out, you leave him in? What were they saving the rest of the pen for? 2020?
Unbelievable. Roberts shit the bed big time.
