If I was the shamans lawyer I’d be filing emergency appeal and Habeus corpus immediately. The videos showing him are damning that the prosecution literally committed perjury in their case. Sorry but I don't have much sympathy for these Capitol rioters. They knowingly entered a restricted US government building by force, tampered with things, and did not heed the orders of the Capitol Police.

These people should all be prosecuted, though the ones who just milled around should get light (and perhaps suspended) sentences.

Republicans should not be trying to turn these people into heroes or martyrs. They were idiots who hurt the party badly in the 2022 election (and perhaps beyond).

At the same time, the left has been totally dishonest about the severity of these "riots" and have embellished the supposed "attack on democracy". The truth is that these morons were cleared out within a few hours, and Congress got back to work. The only person killed in the whole thing was one of the rioters. No government officials were harmed, nor was anyone inside aggressively looking for these officials inside the building. All of the video has always just shown that everyone was confused what to do next once they actually got inside the building.

No, if you read my response again, I am not both-sidesing it.

I first gave my opinion of the riots themselves and what should happen to those who were in the building. Note I am not making excuses for any of them, and advocate prosecuting them all.

However, I am also showing the amazing hypocrisy of the Democrats, as just months earlier there were deadly, highly damaging riots which lit cities into flames and shut down entire metro areas. This went on for months, resulting in many deaths and billions of dollars in damages. Not only won't many Democrats call for tracking down these criminals and prosecuting them, but we saw tons of excuse-making and praise for these rioters. Hell, our sitting VP actually promoted a fund to bail them out (which was later used to bail out pedos and rapists!)

There is no comparison between the two, when it came to the disruption and threat to American lives.

I never felt the 2020 election was "stolen", and in fact have long stated that Trump acted like a complete ass after that election. I have no love for his followers during that time, as I feel they greatly hurt my party. With that said, I am not going along with the ridiculous "assault on democracy" bullshit being pushed by the left. It's just complete nonsense.

This "one group of people" wanted the election results changed, but they were a non-organized group from a rally which hastily followed one another into the Capitol.

There are crackpots everywhere who want to overthrow our government, but are not a serious threat to be able to do so, and thus should not be treated as a danger to democracy. Even once these morons got inside the Capitol, they mostly milled around, took pictures of themselves, and put their hands on things. It was clear nobody knew what the fuck they were doing -- just that they thought Trump was cheated and wanted to express that (in a stupid and illegal way).

I am not making excuses for any of it, but if you listen to the Democrats, it's as if we were a hair away from being under the rule of the iron fist of Shaman Guy.

authoritarian (which party has been telling citizens what they can and can't do in recent years?)
characterized by a dictatorial leader (who has been signing a ton of executive orders, and trying to take control of states' rights?)
centralized autocracy (see above)
forcible suppression of opposition (cancel culture, demands that social media companies suppress opposing opinions and studies)
belief in a natural social hierarchy (follow the woke dictates or lose your job)
subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation (COVID lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine madates)
strong regimentation of society and the economy (large companies pressured to repeat the woke ideology or they suffer)

Yup... looks like fascism is indeed here in the ol' US of A.
