The Iraq war cost about $800 Billion. Over like 7 years.
So you just suggested universal health care will cost less. Wow. Glad you are still beating your pud to Rachel Maddow.

I have zero guns, and shot a gun once in my life. It was at a range with a rifle. Right then and there, I knew owning a gun was not for me. I have walked down the meanest streets, late at night in the Bronx and South Philadelphia in a drunk. One time, not a joke, there was a group huddling around a trash can fire like you saw in the original Rocky. It was like 2007 and was 9 degrees.
I was minding my business and was accosted for money as I walked by. I stopped and said try to take it from me mother fucker. I won't get into how things ended, we wound up shaking hands and it was just a group giving a white guy a hard time. My point is the reason I don't own a gun is for that reason, in that things would have ended badly for everyone if I had a gun at that moment.
All that said, the 2 amendment is so strong, it is almost comical to try and repeal it. However, if it keeps the liberals occupied than let them do so.
This isn't about guns. It's about our society and mental health. Suicide. It's so out of control. Suicide isn't enough anymore. People commit suicide out of the pure need for attention sometimes. How do you get the most attention? Kill a bunch of people while taking yourself down. It's a sad sad state that were in. All this shit is on the rise, and there really is no answer. You can ban guns, but they've been around so long you'll never stop them. America glorifies guns and going out "in a blaze of glory". It sucks but its already happened and we can't blame anyone but ourselves.
It's going to get ALOT uglier before it ever gets better, and sadly it won't get better in any of our lifetimes...
I love how you can parrot a line of bullshit that Republicans have been peddling on the talk show circuit for years, and really truly believe that it's the truth. It must take such a small mind to accomplish that.
There have been $800B in "emergency" auxiliary spending bills passed to fund the Iraq war. George W. Bush's Treasury Department did not include any of that spending in their budget deficit numbers because the bills were not part of the annual budget, only "one time" costs. Obama ordered all of the costs of the wars to be included in the official numbers.
According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report published in October 2007, the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could cost taxpayers a total of $2.4 trillion dollars by 2017 when counting the huge interest costs because combat is being financed with borrowed money. The CBO estimated that of the $2.4 trillion long-term price tag for the war, about $1.9 trillion of that would be spent on Iraq, or $6,300 per U.S. citizen.[10][11]
Joseph Stiglitz, former chief economist of the World Bank and winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, has stated the total costs of the Iraq War on the US economy will be three trillion dollars in a moderate scenario, and possibly more in the most recent published study, published in March 2008.[12] Stiglitz has stated: "The figure we arrive at is more than $3 trillion. Our calculations are based on conservative assumptions.

That $1.9T number only includes costs out to 2017. Taking care of the resulting veterans for the next 50 years will cost most of another trillion dollars.
The biggest, scariest number that your boys at Fox News could come up with for universal health care was $1.5T.

Here is a really amazing comparison of the health care situations of the western countries.

Please look at those number and explain how we're doing it right and they're all doing it wrong.
Gee go to the nearest library, "the one w/all the book", and learn something, Boy'.
Thanks for making us Americans, the country w/the great gun laws, look so smart.
I'm in CA, I know like one person that has a hand gun. so biased maybe, but anyone that thinks this is just the person, still?????
Give it up, like if this clown couldn't get a gun this would have happened anyway???
At least give in a little (like no assault rifles), or the NRA will be history.
This was the last straw.
Yes but you disagree with him that the government should do more because you don't want the government taking more of your money for a program he thinks deserves more. OK fine. I don't want any of my money spent on the Pentagon. So anyone that wants to keep spending a trillion dollars a year trying to rule the world can pony up what they like to pay for it, and I won't. Fair?
LMAO you expect anyone to believe this?

I haven't read this thread, but I can tell you that to outsiders the USA is looking like a pretty dumb country at the moment; while the ownership of a semi-automatic rifle (sole use - a highly efficient killing machine) is legal a game of online poker remains unlawful.
After Dunblane all handguns were made illegal here in the UK. Now we have less gun murders per year than the USA has per day. Our murder rate per capita is 25% of yours. 'Crazy people kill people, not guns', believe me we have plenty of crazies over here, how come we don't have the murders too?
It's bewildering how powerful the NRA are in the USA. How many more massacres like this will it take before common sense prevails and the people turn against the NRA and your gun laws are tightened?
RIP the innocent victims
What I wish they would cover or ask is why Adam's mom who was a teacher at the school wasn't their that morning? Was she supposed to work or did she have a day off for whatever reason?
Also, if these guns were purchased and registered in her name as they are saying then why would she buy them for a mentally fucked up son?
I don't have any kids but if I had one who was a mental case I could at least see reality that he should never have a gun and I'd never purchase it for his use.
Installing metal detectors in a school might prevent kids from bringing something there but a guy like this can still easily gain entry. These schools don't have security like airports do and they never will especially an elementary school who you'd think should be safe from this ever happening.
The Mom was a gun enthusiast. She was a prepper and took the kid to the range occasionally. Also, the kid went to the school the day before and had an altercation with 4 teachers - 3 of which are now dead. Also the kid tried to buy a gun the day before but was refused due to waiting period. The story continues to develop.
Amazing how how horrible the reporting has been on this. That beign said can those of you who want to argue gun control (in either direction) please do so in another thread. Some of us are actually interested in the topic....
The media coverage is really pissing me off. Enough of the this doesn't happen in our nice town bs. This does not normally happen anywhere. Second, the pictures of the surviving kids paraded around with them in church or escaping the classroom is really pissing me off. As a parent I don't want people taking pictures of my kids and posting them on the front page without my permission. Even if the parents give permission CNN should not be putting them out there. one picture was of a young girl in church crying and being comforted by her mom. Grrrrrrrr. Not to mention pictures of the brother in handcuffs and getting the wrong person initially. Wtf.
Also, I haven't heard this reported so this is pure speculation on my part. The kid had his brother's ID and tried to use it to buy a gun because in CT you have to be 21 and he was only 20. This would explain why he had the brother's ID.
How they butchered the story about his mom working there and now they say she has no connection at all with the school is beyond me.
If his mom did work there that gives more motive but now it just seems like a copycatish plot motive even though he probably has some insane rationale about what he was going to do.
So if he went to the school the day before and had a confrontation to me it appears he was just scoping the place out to pinpoint his target area and learn whatever he could about security to follow out his plan.
He already had enough ammo in his possession even though he tried to get more so a key is how did he get his brothers ID? Did he steal it from him or did his brother say "Okay, I'll let you borrow my license to purchase the gun?" Also, why didn't he just get his mom to as she purchased the other 3 guns?
All of the school shootings in the last decade the shooters where/are on/off their antidepressants. Not that hard to connect the dots.
I really do believe that this poison in some people changes brain chemistry to the point they completely lose it.
The whole blame it on the guns, video game shit is nonsense. If it wasnt guns to mass murder peoplem it would be something else like bombs, poison or the countless of other things that can used to massacre.
