I wouldn't have linked an article describing the individual as essentially a Putin lobbyist if it was written yesterday, because that would suggest they might be smearing him for political reasons. It struck me as strange and I asked myself if he had a point, or if he was a Russian apologist as it appeared. So I read up on him. Thats what a thinking person does, right?
When you take in who this guy is, rather than being a defense against Putin being pro-Trump, it's actually further evidence that Putin desperately wants Trump. Why does Putin want Trump so badly? If Russia and China are killing us, and laughing at us, and just getting rich off Democratic presidents like Trump constantly repeats contrary to all evidence, and Trump is going to put an end to that, why do they want him to win so badly?

Why do people think Hilary had a hard time with Bernie? She ran zero negative ads. It was over as soon as it started. Bernie didn't get cheated and the Clintons were so sure that they didn't waste money on torching Bernie. Part of that was she did not want to alienate the left flank more than necessary, but the outcome was never in doubt.
For context, the Romney campaign plus associated superpacs spent 40 million in negative ads against Gingrich in Florida alone in 2012.

If Putin endorsed Obama, I assume it's because Romney called Russia the world's biggest threat in the debates. A point that Obama and most liberals laughed off, myself included, but in retrospect was fairly accurate. I'm sure Putin wanted no part of Romney, as he's a much more traditional national defense Republican that are always hawkish on Russia. Iirc, I think I made a comment here about Romney still thinking it was 1985. Clearly I was laughably wrong, and Romney was somewhat prescient on that subject. The falling price of oil cornered Putin and made him much more aggressive.
