When I look at the flawed Dodgers bullpen, I can at least thank the Lord that it's not the Cubs bullpen or Braves bullpen.
BTW, has anyone looked at the Yankees starting pitching? Is it really championship caliber? I don't think so. To me, the Astros really have the team much better suited to win in the playoffs.
This Dodgers team has the best lineup of any of their teams in my lifetime.
Their one hole was catcher, and now rookie Will Smith is hitting the cover off the ball.
I really hope the bullpen doesn't screw up the postseason, and I hope that Buehler/Kershaw/Ryu can pitch well enough to where the bullpen won't be as necessary.
But at least the team should put a lot of runs on the board.
Dodgers have scored the most runs in the NL and given up the fewest.
The talking up of the Dodgers above was AFTER that day game loss.
Dodgers crushed the Marlins in the other two games, and they even scored 7 in that loss. One bad game is meaningless in baseball.
The only concern to be derived from this is the fact that Buehler seems to sometimes just not "have it" and doesn't pitch well.
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Cubs have been a disaster on the road. 23-39, the second worst in the NL, only ahead of the Marlins.
Ruins their strong 41-19 mark at home.
Speaking of home, the Dodgers are playing .750 ball there, at 48-16.
it's the bullpen. worthless cocksuckers are ruining the entire season
It’s a weird spot for Dodgers and Ryu today vs Atlanta
Again Dodgers aren’t much better than .500 on the road
Atlanta mashes lefties like Ryu
Both Ryu’s losses are road losses.
For a guy with the best ERA in baseball, RYU & Dodgers are getting no love. It’s weird. Maybe prescient
Atlanta is missing relief. They are ahead of schedule
Its time to start taking notes. Is RYU really gonna be the playoff Ace of the Dodgers staff? That’s a stretch for me
Tatis is out for the rest of the year, I guess
Druff has to ask himself who on the Dodgers is as dynamic as Acuna (or Tatis)? I know Bellinger has a better WAR but Acuna is electric and is frankly still in the HR championship hunt
I’m on Dodgers but I don’t like it one bit. Maybe NYY ends up with best record in baseball today.
So which reliever is going to protect the 2-0 lead for the Cubs in the 9th?
I know it's just the Pirates, but the Cubs and Braves bullpens find a way to lose if the game isn't a blowout.
I'm actually kind of a skeptic that Ryu is going to be a shutdown ace for the Dodgers in the postseason. I think that's wishful thinking.
My hopes regarding the Dodgers in the postseason revolve around them having three pretty good starters in Ryu, Buehler, and Kershaw, basically holding the score down to a reasonable level, and the killer offense mashing the ball.
Will be interesting to see how they do against the Yankees in that upcoming series next week. The Yankees don't have particularly good starting pitching, so it will be interesting to see if the Dodgers can hit them hard. I actually fear the Astros much more, because they're a more complete team.
Goose Gossage, Pete Rose and “unwatchable baseball

Funny article. The struggle to reconcile baseball this year has been a goldmine. The tanking, the favorite betting, the overs, the 1st 5 derivative (bullpen avoidance)
-Pete RoseQuote:
It’s home run derby every night, and if that’s what they want, that’s what they’re going to get. But they have to understand something … Home runs are up. Strikeouts are up. But attendance is down. I didn’t go to Harvard or one of those Ivy League schools, but that’s not a good thing.”
Detach yourself from the argument and think about how it IS.
Astros Miley -500 v Tigers Zimmerman? Does that finally stretch the limit of the autobet? If you think you see value with Detroit I want to know your name.
In a game that is perhaps traditionally the easiest to handicap the world has been turned on its ear. THAT IS WHATS CALLED OPPORTUNITY.
Remain agnostic and just bet
Of course I’m baiting Druff. Now I feel bad. I took down the Stu Druffstein avatar. I’m trying.
But I’m trying to make Druff a better bettor.
So this is the most important quiz you will take today.
Yankees & Dodgers have the 1st and 2nd best records in baseball
Question:
Who has the best ROI. It’s not even close.
Answer:
Look up
We crushed favorites with NHL and now MLB. Gimme the lecture pops
Sawks have lost Sale for 2019.
They're pretty much finished. What a collapse, from dominant World Champs to likely missing the playoffs.
They currently sit 6.5 behind the second wildcard.
Sawks’ Dombroski had his chance to yard sale and abandon this edition and restock empty minors
They were never relevant this year and had no shot.
I think Sale’s 5yr $145m contract starts next year.
smart enough to beat the chokers last year in the WS
85 yr old Larry King is filing for his 8th divorce.
His 2 sons were afraid his wife was gonna renew the Dodger season tickets. They told the old man to bounce
Larry King is a legend.
I don't know what any of this nonsense means, but the Dodgers do have a Kenley Jansen problem.
He's pretty much blowing every close game he's brought into, including against bad teams.
Sure, the Dodgers have a million home run hitters to bail him out of ties in extra innings when this happens, but it's going to be a problem in October.
On the bright side, they're 50-16 at home.
Surprised no one outside of LA is noticing Will Smith, who is absolutely killing it.
Also, MLB just warned players who are dissatisfied with the size of their dick that taking bullshit supplements like Extenze might violate the drug policy.
Seriously.

What a time we live in.
No one is talking about your new pitcher either Todd
Yankees v Dodgers on YES/SNLA tonight
Player's Weekend Uniforms!!! WTF? One side looks like Alex DeLarge & his Droogs, the other like Men In Black
after the game I am going to read Mad Magazine: Spy v Spy
:wrong
There wasn't a huge breakout rookie this year with the impact of these others I mentioned, until Will Smith who has only been up for a short time.
Verdugo was doing fairly well (.294/12 HR)/.817 OPS), but he got injured, and he still wasn't a huge impact player.
THis team also didn't have offensive holes this year, aside from catcher, and that has been solved for the moment by Smith.
The rhythm of the seasons.
September rolls in. The nights get cooler. Dodgers can’t hit better lefties.
There is a comfort that comes from these things
Story of Keith Comstock, the nobody pitcher in the '80s who took a ball to the crotch in his baseball card photo:

you said no help from the minors was the biggest problem...I say that those players have provided the help: per fangraphs through today the WAR's are Verdugo 2.2, Smith 1.9, Urias 1.1, Beaty .9, and Sadler .1, with the probable exception of Sadler, If these guys were all playing since day 1 of 2019 and without injury they would at or above the 2-3 WAR for the season...and for an entire season 2-3 is considered production enough to hold a starting job on any major league team (only an very good to all star performer would play a position ahead of that player, but the player would be moved to another place so he could play), so indeed, a regular player is a valuable asset and a help to the major league team
