United Healthcare CEO shot dead in Midtown Manhattan

I hope UnitedHealthCare stock crashes and the company is liquidated. They have fucked over their customers for far too long.

But here we have the first really high profile use of the normalization of masks being used in a high profile crime.

I’m diabetic. I wore the fucking masks. I took 3 clot shots. I didn’t want to die. But I haven’t wore a mask in over 2 years and after the first booster I stopped with the fucking shots. People who want or need to wear a mask should get some kind of certification from the DR and be forced to at least show it when asked by authority figures. I don’t imagine it would be a big deal to get it. But we can’t have lunatics taking advantage of the normalization of masking.

Even if you’re healthy and want to mask…let’s get a Dr. to sign off you’re not a fucking lunatic. I am all for personal freedom. But this has just gone too far and it’s putting others in danger. You want to mask all the time….Ask your Dr to print out a card for you and you can cover your face until the cows come home.

As for cold weather…yes it’s fine to wear a fast covering for the cold. It is what it is. And I guess if you are Asian you can wear a mask because that’s sort of a cultural thing….sort of like a burka in the Muslim world.

This case is high profile as fuck and winnable. I imagine there will be an army of lawyers willing to take this one on. They’d do it for free, but in this case, his family seems to have money also, so maybe they won’t even have to.


Whatever lawyer takes it though, if his back and denied coverage in his defense, they are cringing watching him all animated and jumping out of the cruiser and struggling and turning to address the crowd.

I imagine most would have him coming out of that squad car looking like a cripple and saying he was under the influence of multiple pain killers the night of the shooting to even pull it off which impaired his judgement.

Being this able bodied when they’ve had you for over 24 hou takes that off the table I’d think. Being angry and animated doesn’t feel like he’s doing himself any favors.

I don’t want to live in a police state. But there has to be some middle ground here. Would he have still committed this crime if masking wasn’t normalized? Probably. Would he have been identified and caught much sooner? Absolutely.

It’s your classic civil liberties vs public safety conundrum. I don’t know the answer. But it’s a problem.

I would guess that this isn’t really about his actual case and how it was handled by United. I was a claims adjuster/investigator for years and then when I had to deal with a workers comp adjuster for Travelers it was not a great experience. It’s certainly different when it’s your personal health at stake. So medical claims are just a whole different beast than property/casualty claims.

I’m sure his experience was not great and didn’t help his pre-existing contempt for the industry. He may have also been in hospital settings and seeing how others were dealt with. Being familiar with the industry, I got to say the case manager who tries to get you out of the hospital as quickly as possible has been tough for me to listen to deceive others. I know they are coming to the patient in the guise of assisting them when all they truly want is to get them the fuck out of the hospital.

I know I am rambling a bit but I think my feeling is that there is plenty of negative stuff you see when you are dealing with a major medical problem. It may not really have much to do with yout own personal case. So this guy may have not had to worry about his actual surgery and work on his back. But his time around the system could have furthered his contempt and eventually radicalized him to who he became today.

His grandfather was super wealthy. But he had 37 grandchildren. He wrote about his mother having severe neuropathy and struggling to pay 6k deductible each year. I have no idea. Seems to be a lot of money floating around family, but divorces, bad investments, maybe he ended up on the poor side somehow and only had schooling covered. It is puzzling why he’s the voice of this movement right now.

Fighting extradition from PA to NY. Strange choice. I can’t imagine wanting to stand trial in PA over NY given his crime.

While the back surgery definitely fucked him up….it may have been a denial to fix that big ole Shnozola that sent him over the top. Cosmetic ain’t covered.

I hope we get Medicare for all and UHG is chosen as the sole administrator.
