UFC's about to get sold btw.
I feel like Silva might just about be done. He claimed he wanted to spend more time with family anyways and still had a few fights afterwards but now this setback might have him just retire or get go for one last fight if he's able to do so before hanging it up.
He will get a sick job promoting the company and sport in Brazil.
There are fights I want to see Anderson take still.
Hell I still want him to move up and fight Jones.
For years I am one of those people who wanted to see Anderson fight GSP but those days are over.
This is always a problem because people age and then are like "let's fight" whether it be in boxing (Mayweather/Pacman) or MMA where the fight still sells but lets be real it would have been way better 5 to 10 years prior.
People avoid others because they don't want to lose, can't work it out financially, or the terms of what weight the fight will be at put the fight to a halt.
That is why in ways it was great to see Diaz vs McGregor because it's the closest we get to a super fight but Connor was not even close to being ready for that one.
More catch weight fights should happen tho for sure.
Dana on the Dan Patrick show now, says UFC not up for sale but yet he also said, "we'll have a conversation at $4 billion". Take from it what you will.
Also, this is interesting:
Freddie Roach was contacted by Conor to train him for Mayweather and apparently said that without 3 years at least of extremely hardcore prep there was absolutely no point in him getting in the ring at all.
Then he read FPS_Russia's posts and realized that as long as people that dumb have money, there will always be a reason for Conor to get in the ring.
New weight cutting policy as of UFC 200.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ufc-imp...2292--mma.htmlQuote:
Under the new guidelines, fighters must check in during fight week, which is typically Tuesday for a Saturday event, within 8 percent of their target weight. Fighters that check in above the 8 percent threshold will be subject to daily monitoring of their weight and vitals and will be required to attend weight management counseling before their next fight.
yeah McGregor, Hendricks, and a few others are worse at weight cutting then Jones.
hendricks and conor have like 9 toes out the door already, and jones would simply have no idea what to do with the extra muscle mass he would need to show up with to be relevant at hw.
Hendricks is probably in Bellator within the next 2-3 years.
I think Jones at HW is a bad idea for him. He's untouchable at LHW and I don't see anyone beating him anytime soon.
BTW I also heard one way to get around the new IV rules is to use a glass IV. That sounds horrid.
I just used Hendricks because his weight cutting is so horrible but I agree that the guy is washed up at this point.
A lot of people will have issues cutting weight until the last week tho more then we are aware of so this rule change is interesting.
Not for nothing but it could totally change the complexion of the sport by depriving people with wrestling backgrounds of one their biggest advantages.
