One team beat Ohio State last year and they did it in convincing fashion and they did it in Columbus by holding them to 21 points. This year they return 16 starters, 8 on the D and are Phil Steele #1 DL and DB and #2 LB groups in the ACC. They avoid playing Fla St and Clemson in the regular season and the main competition for the ACC coastal division play both.
I'm with Phil Steele on this play.
Va Tech +350 (RB) to win the ACC coastal
I have been having a fantastic year with handicapping golf and will share my picks for The Open Rd 3 Match Play.
I am not a pro sports handicapper! I am having a winning season, but I don't have a big enough sample to claim that I could win long term. I don't
bet many matches each week. I am very selective and if I don't see a match I like, I stay away.
I bet a handful of players for $3 each for the low round of the day. I usually don't do these prop bets, but at the time my book didn't have match play
showing because of the weather delays.
Kevin Na $241.5
Jimmy Walker $157.5
Retief Goosen $157.5
Paul Lawrie $121.50
Danny Willett $91.50
Louis Oosthuizen $91.50
Zach Johnson $91.50
Adam Scott $48.45
I usually don't find much value betting day 1 of a PGA Tour stop, but like Bubba Watson +105 Vs Furyk
Can someone explain golf Betting edges to me. I'm a total dart thrower and betting golf can be excruciatingly blissful.
Made my first bet of the summer last night and squeezed out a win with the cubs, that felt amazing winning a random nickel bet.
But I would love to talk more golf in this thread if we can.
Also little league baseball is coming up. I caught the fucking heat streak with those 12 year old fuckers last year, anyone got any sick child betting reads?
Today I like Brian Harman -130 Vs Nick Watney. Harman shot 65 yesterday and Is in 2nd place on the board while Watney shot 1 over par at 73.
I'm sorry, I overlooked your post the other day... Id love to chat golf and anything else we could bet on. I been posting my bets lately to see if more will jump on the thread.
Before I go into some detail with how I come up with my picks, I just want you or anyone else reading this to know that I don't claim to be a professional and have just been having a good year. I'm an avg bettor who bets $100-200. I have zero intentions of doing this for a living, but its nice if it could pay for my monthly cell phone bill. After doing the math for all my winning bets divided by the number of wagers over the year, It only averages out to $3-$4 a game. I do this for pure entertainment.
A big reason I like handicapping golf (besides loving the game) is because I only have to focus on 2 players in match ups. Its not like any professional sports team where you have so many players to keep track of. In golf If a player becomes ill while playing, that's the entire team! I have been lucky enough when watching the golf channel to see an update about a players health and jump on it in time which is a massive edge. If he toughs it out he most likely wont be playing that well and its a great spot. If the sick/hurt player withdraws, I win automatically. When looking threw the match ups, I like to block the prices while I come up with one on my own and then compare, this helps me get better and certain matches will jump out at me that way when I'm off. Once I see a potential match, I see how the golfer has played the course in the past, Its also important that they are currently performing well. Take Tiger Woods for example, he may have won the Arnold Palmer invitational 8 times, but I would take nearly any other golfer over him now with his current form. So a great combo for me is a golfer who's been making cuts and being in contention over the last few weeks plus has a good history at the current tournament stop. Other edges I find just jump off the page at me if the price is great. It may mean 2 golfers who are both doing great lately like my Watson Over Furyk pick the other day, I thought it was good value getting Watson +105, now just 3 days later Watson is Laying 120/100 to Furyk. Other things I check out but not put a ton of weight into are the players twitter pages, you would be shocked how often you can get good insight on a player just by looking around for social media accounts. The weather, last week at St Andrews this was very important for morning vs afternoon squad times and with a simple google search you can see how players have done in windy crappy weather etc.
There are many small things I think about that add up in clusters, but don't mean much on their own. Being hometown favorite, family on road visiting, are they working with new coach, switching putter, positive or negative life events they are experiencing etc. etc.
Sorry about the long post! I suck at writing. Hopefully you get an idea of some of the edges that I personally can get. It would be cool to hear from someone else who is more experienced with handicapping then I am.
Today's pick Ollie Schniederjans OVER James Hahn
Right when I started posting my picks a couple weeks ago, the winning stopped lol Today that's changing! Found 4! matches that I like and I'm on. (you have enough time to fade me btw)
Todays Picks....
If anyone is interested in why I choose the picks that I did, let me know. I don't see point in writing paragraphs out if nobody gives a shit lol. Not many golf guys here I gather.
First time I am laying 2-1 and I feel like its free money, but didn't go overboard like I wanted to because crazy things happen in sports betting all the time! Goosen went -8 on day 1 and is in first while Thomson went +8 and is in last, 16 stroke difference yesterday!
Fade away :)
Is the goose gonna shit the bed on time his one
Keep posting. I've got a bulging disc in my neck, had two cervical epidurals in the past month, and have still played at least 18 holes probably 17 days in the last 3 weeks. Making up for all the rain we had early summer. I clearly love golf considering I have to pop narcotics to play it, and I'm birding all your picks. I just follow threads like this until we get some sample size and pick someone's brain on their process if they're willing to share.
If I have learned anything in my years of gambling... When someone says something is "free money" take the other side.
Pat Perez has been hot as shit from the first bet I made against him 2 months ago
I come from a family that's been involved in every aspect of gambling and I was taught this at like age 4 lol "If it seems to good to be true, than it usually is"
My father would always go the other way, if he saw a college game with under/over at 74, he would take the over.
Today's Picks for day 3 of the Quicken Loans Tournament...
If I bet the earlier line like planned, I would have had Fowler -115. Wanted to have Justin Rose VS Justin Thomas, but -140 is overpriced imo.
