One thing I will pat Micon at the back for is his ongoing championing of evidenced based medicine and science. His questionable beliefs tend to be around philosophical rather than scientific issues.
Hes a smart man. But I honestly feel that he wouldnt have touched Seals with Garrett's babydick if it didnt have a bitcoin tie-in. The second poker died, he was looking for a new cause, and bitcoins were there. And the second he started to get a taste of celebrity through it, he was balls deep. And if you want to make it as a bitcoin advocate, well there are only so many causes you can champion that justifies it. So you end up going into that whole neo-privacy-advocate-crypto-will-free-us-all school of libertarian econo-autist-anarchism because once you subtract that from bitcoins you have... what exactly?
Part of me believes that he made A LOT more money from SWC than people are leading on here. If he's had 50% for this long I'd say he's probably got about 2-3 million.
The other part of me questions why he has a $400 laptop and still wears the same shirts from 20 years ago and is playing free rolls to $5 tourneys on pstars.
Some of these people still think bitcoin will go past 10k. The craziest think 1btc will one day be around 1 million. LOL at those people. Obv seals with clubs has no large bearing on the bitcoin market though, no price drop on the news. Bitcoin holding steady around 230-250 past month.
I disagree.
There wasnt a lot of traffic on Seals, and they had at least 3 people on salary (micon, other owner, hdev(?) the sysad) plus at various times they had to spend considerable sums on advertising, consultants, developers, etc. Honestly Id be stunned if Seals took down more than $200 a day in rake.. but even if it took down 5 times that much, and even if there were ONLY the three of them carving up that pie, Micon still only made about $122,000 a year. And obviously we are assuming Micon was a winning player when he took his paycheck to the tables, which is a whole other kettle of fish.
I mean, maybe I checked that place out on slow days but usually there were like, 3-8 people logged in at any given moment.
You can write off the mining right off the bat. Like right now. The volume of gear/juice you need to mine BTC profitably is astounding. That shits dead, its been dead.
As for the rake, I recall their rake being miniscule to begin with. Factor in the low volume of play and yeah, I think 5btc a day is super optimistic for them. Again; maybe the site was much busier than I recall, in which case maybe they made more. But what I saw when I logged in was a literal handful of micro stakes players killing time.
If someone has different numbers for their average userbase at the tables, I'm all ears tho.
Let us not forget the money flushed during the Butterfly Labs fiasco
Guns, handcuffs īn stuff & online poker?
Remembers me...

Yeah it is now and a year ago and two years ago, but you forget how long Micon has been active in this.
Micon used to be tossing out about 10 BTC a week to people on the forums to go on SWC. I honestly think he has a lot more than you're giving him credit for. I also remember SWC being a lot busier. Yeah sure there was microstakes going on but there was quite a few times, early on especially, that I remember people playing like 1-2 and 2-4 quite consistently.
Then again like I said, I don't understand why he'd be on a $400 laptop, be wearing the same shirt for 20 years, and is playing freerolls on stars. It could just be the Jew in him, he could really be broke, or he could just have all his money in BTC still.
Micon bit the fiat currency is evil bug super hard, so it wouldn't be surprising to me that he keeps 99% of his roll on BTC.
I seem to remember at one point Seals had a 24hr average of about 60 players, with a 24hr peak of like 160 or something.
I could be remembering wrong. All that should be available on pokerscout if they haven't removed the listing yet
I can't be the only one entertained by all this. Good for micon, I hope he has untold amount of bitcoins. All the power to him.

How is the fact that Micon got raided at gunpoint over SealsWithClubs, then fled the country not a news item?!? @PokerNews @CardPlayerMedia
Fair enough. In a vacuum this is true, I suppose.
So is going into a liquor store with a mask and a licensed firearm. Dude is filled with bad intent. From a legal standpoint, lol.
If he is intends on keeping his promise to open in days without doing the necessary paperwork... the food thread is at risk.
I gave Druff a suggestion for an opening song the last time I co-hosted. The show had been off for a week so I thought the song was semi-fitting, as it both mentioned "being back" and "radio".

Well, Druff, in keeping with his personal policy of never playing anything past 1989 decided to go with something else. I understand, it's his show after all. I am merely the humble "permanent guest co-host".
But let me make a suggestion now for next week's show. It's not only firmly in Druff's wheelhouse of the 1980's, but also relevant to events going on in the poker world. Next's weeks show should, no.... needs, to open with this ditty:

My understanding, and this comes with a grain of salt the size of a watermelon, is that Micon had a mountain of BTC from mining as an early adopter and snatching up a fuckton of coins with cash just because.
Also he did cash a lot out for WSOP, slots, rent, drones, so on etc as well as just offering to sell people BTC on demand because he was The Ambassador..
So was he worth 2-3m when BTC was 1200k a pop? Maybe! Maybe more...
But I really dont think Seals was ever like, spewing BTCs at him, even with the numbers described just now (60 mean, 120 peak players). And considering BTC price is 1/6th of what it was at peak, who knows whats next.
What I think we can all agree on, however, is that no matter how many coins he has stashed away, he needs a good immigration attorney and a great criminal defense lawyer, and yeah the $400 laptop doesnt bode well for either.
possible that contraband material, not specified in the search warrant, was discovered during the search and could result in a criminal charge?
Did DirtyB flee to Antigua too?
I'd cum in martha's tight pus
also if you have crazy shit on your laptop, invest in magnets. i'm not sure how they work.
I think he made a shitload off seals too, far north of 1 million EASILY if he was 50 % owner. Whether he held onto all of that money is unknown . I'm sure he cashed out a decent chunk when the coins hit around 1k for financial stability as well and probably knew there was a chance this day would come and I would think he is smart enough to have kept very little in the bank
They had virtually 0 overhead there and traffic wise they were busy enough to make money off of rake etc..
Also keep in mind all of the people who will have forgot passwords to their accs/ have had multiple accs they forgot about etc... SWC will cash in all of thos bitcoins and chop them up.
Their biggest score will come from people who do not cashout within the next few days before the transformation to the new SWC happens.
On one of the PFA shows I think last year slim t called up and talked about Micon. If u remember, those two bonded over hate of Drexel so they became buds from what I understand. Well slim t said that both he and Micon loaded up on bitcoin but then both cashed out when it first popped to 80. Of course this is slim t we are talking about here so it might all be bullshit but he sounded sincere to me.
Well even if none of that was reliable, I dont believe Micon is or was a millionaire. Maybe he was temporarily when btc hit 1200 but not for any real time. I think there is a lot you can point to which says hes not as rich as some of u think.
Every year he sells big pieces of himself at wsop including the main event. Now I know what youre gonna say, so does Druff and hes rich. But Druff is a jew nit who is trying to control his variance and u know that has never been in Micons makeup. Even nitjew Druff wont sell the main in case he hits a miracle and scores 7 figures. Well u know Micon and his dreams of being super rich, hes not selling his chance at winning 10m at the main event if he can easily afford the 10k buyin. And hes sure as fuck not going thru the trouble of selling pieces of 1000 dollar events, but thats exactly what hes done last few years.
Lets also look at Micons recent pokerstars play. Hes entering micro tournies and even a freeroll. Of course some people just play that stuff for shits and giggles but Micon has logged a whole lot of those at a time when he is supposedly working hard to get new Seals up. If Micon is worth millions theres no way hes playing those micro tournies, especially the small field ones where 1st place would be meaningless money. Using Druff as an example again, could u ever picture him spending hours a day playing $3 buyin tournies? No fucking way, and again I would argue that Druff values small amounts of $ way more than Micon does.
We also have not seen any sign of him upgrading his lifestyle. Only new toy he showed off in last few years was that 1200 dollar drone. No flashy new car, no baller new house, nothing. Hes still living like the same brokedick he always was, with a few occasionaly splurges here and there.
Obv he wasnt flat broke cuz he could afford those expensive same day plane tix for 3 people, and he had the $ to replace his drone as soon as he lost it, but lets face it, Micon wasnt showing any signs of being flush w/cash.
I think seals made him decent $ but nothing amazing. Like sonatine and others said, he had to split it several ways and also they hired developers for their new 2.0 software which u know wasnt cheap. Also they had low rake, affiliate expenses, and a pretty small player base of mostly low limit games.
Oh and I dont think Micon ever really mined many btc. I think he bought the btc he had, and then made the rest thru seals.
I think the narrative of Micon the always broke fuckup finally striking it big with bitcoin and showing up all his haters made for a funny story & a good thing to irritate Druff, but I think it turned into a big fish story that grew even bigger over time. Legend would have it that Micon mined & bought a shitload of btc at $18 and then sold them for millions profit when they hit $1200, plus makes 500k/yr on seals. I think the reality is he blew most of his original btc stash and cashed the rest out during the first run up, & pulled in like 150k/yr on seals. Then subtract from that 150k his living expenses, gambling losses, & whatever else and thats all he has. Also btc fell a ton from its peak, so even if Micon had 2 mil when btc was 1200, he would have only 400k now. If u wanted me to set an over under on micons net worth now, I would say 150k & still advise betting the under.
This is off I believe , the HU rake was out of control. A world class limit reg told me that the HU rake was so high that 10-20 was beatable for limit unless you were playing a huge fish and there were guys playing this EVERYDAY. I was also told that even the few limits above that were tough to beat as well but never really looked into it
As far as salary I highly doubt they took a salary but I have no idea how they worked that stuff. Makes more sense to just chop up the bitcoins they made in rake. Even if they did take a salary either way they still chop up the bitcoins.
At peak times they had WAY more than 3-8 people running on the site. Also keep in mind whatever money they raked when bitcoins were worth shit soared through the roof. This is where the majority of money came for them
As I said slim t claimed micon sold off most btc at 80.
If he didnt theres no way he cashed out at 1k when it shot up like that. You know Micon sat there with his hard jew dick in hand, dreaming of btc going to 100k and him being a multi multi millionaire. I think u are looking at Micon like some clairvoyant, savvy btc superhero rather than the clueless greedy fuckup hes always been.
I'm sure he did cash out a shitload when they hit $80. It is no secret he wasn't doing well financially before this. But keep in mind if he was 50 % owner they are still raking the shit out of games when bitcoins went north of $1,000 in a short period of time.
When they went north of $1000 a lot of the small players hit the jackpot and a lot of guys were playing limits 5-10x higher than they were before and traffic was soaring for them.
I am fairly confident that around this point in time he hit the jackpot BIG and for a period of time they were making a lot more than people here are giving them credit for because they want to just say "micon is a fuckup".
Here is something else to think about.
Lets say Micon has 2 mil to his name. Why would he flee to Antigua and start seals over, ensuring he cant come back to the US ever again. If he was truly balling he could get a badass attorney and squeeze off the hook ray bitar style, maybe serve a short prison stint & get out mostly unscathed. His actions with fleeing & restarting seals are those of a desperate man who still needed an income to survive & was out of options to support himself.
I clicked on that ustream above to see what it was. Micon's playing bitcoin slots and mentions they're worth $6. I don't think they ever got that low after they started climbing, so seems like he might've gotten in earlier than $18.
