UH OHHHH SHE REALLY WASNT PAULIES MOM ALL ALONG AND TONYS *MAD* BECAUSE HE HAD A BAD MOM!
Sopranos debuted 1/10/1999
Been a long 22 years
carmela wears cargo shorts and flats but wants tony to take her sexual needs seriously.
^ 24 episode subplot.
When tine got skinny he looked like edie falco and immediately was back on the croissants
Just the old wizened features of a white woman is our guy tine when he eats salad for 2 months it was not a good look
UH OHHHHHHHH CARMELLA FOUND OUT TONY'S SEEING A *WOMAN* THERAPIST
HOLD ONTO YOUR HORSES
Little trouble at the Bada Bing.
Not one Italian name, though.
The episode where Chris gets made. He is running the sportsbook.
He is all nervous because everyone bet Oregon +11, vs USC.
He was like 'who cares, we have USC -11, they are up by 12, Oregon has the ball w/45 seconds & no time outs'
Then a guy working there, (also a detective from The Wire) is all yeah but Oregon has an All American kicker
Then Oregon makes the FG as time expires to lose by 9 and cover.
LOL, show me a football game where that's ever happened & I'll show you an investigation in fixing games.
Maybe if the spread was 9 and the FG got them to 8 and they had time for an onside kick,
but this would just reek of a game being fixed.
Sopranos is the still the best show ever, its just that Hollywood rarely gets gambling right.
Man killed outside New Jersey strip club featured in ‘The Sopranos’
https://www.nydailynews.com/news/cri...sre-story.html
A 38-year-old man died outside the New Jersey strip club featured in “The Sopranos” after he was jumped and beaten by a group of five men then struck by a car, cops said Monday.
honestly tho the energy in that scene was actually quite flawless. like its in the top three list for that whole series run.
but i really want to get some feedback on something from someone with more direct knowledge of 'the life' then. paulie is taxing chris $6000 _A WEEK_ which comes to like $312,000 a year. i feel like they tacked an extra zero to the actual number because no one would give a shit about chris being like OH GOD OH SHIT IM $200 SHORT... but there is absolutely no way chris could possibly come up with $6000 a week, i cant buy that. that number is fucking huge today, and this show took place in like 2001?
I would not be surprised if they completely remake The Sopranos and bring it back to Television.

Gandolfini dying unexpectedly of a heart attack at age 51 kinda freaks me out because I'm close to that age, and unlike other celebrities who die young, it doesn't appear his death was a result of reckless living.
It probably didn't help that he toured Rome in the hot, humid summer that day, but his death actually occurred at night.
Still, scary to think about how everything can seem totally fine and normal, and then you're just gone.
random things from the internet...
"Earlier in his life, Gandolfini struggled with alcohol and cocaine use, two other factors that increased his chances of having a heart attack. His alcoholism was something he admitted to publicly, and his last meal was rumored to be fried food and eight alcoholic drinks."
...it's whatever, but he doesn't really have face of a man that stopped drinking after a rehab stint 10ish years ago before he died.
Not exactly a reputable source...

For Druff lowering the chance of heart attack is mostly tied to lowering blood pressure.
Genetics play a small direct impact. Bigger indirect, but that's not something you can do too much about. Just that if you have family history in any medical issue you need to work more.
For Druff dietary changes, increased mobility and relieving stress likely would do the most.
You can induce a heart attack with a single vice taken to extreme. Second dinner is close, but not quite there. It's more a single excessive strike to the system that does it. Most often seen with drugs ODs.
For Gandolfini it was likely 30 years of overeating, drinking, sedentary lifestyle and few other unknows that took him down. For most people it's that mix of 3-5 excesses for decades that finally break them down.
In unsolicited advice department the easiest thing for Druff is to get a new dog that requires more maintenance. Something in the 2 30 mins walks a day department. Get it as pup so you can ease yourself into it.
For diet, look for inconvenient ways to cut salt and increase fibers.
Stress part is the hard one. Random qualities made you a wealthy man. Those same qualities will kill you. Stressing about shit is fine when you're young. Other than working towards things that make you happy vs things that piss you off, i don't really have any advice.
For what it’s worth I’d be totally fine with dying after having dinner in Trastevere.
Place is absolutely awesome. I can not wait to go back there some day.

Pretty crazy that Gandolfini’s son is playing Tony in the prequel movie. My expectations for the movie are relatively low but I’ll give it a watch.

The Wire was the most overrated show ever IMO.
interesting take and i want to know more.
because i tried watching it again not so long ago and i tapped out so fucking fast. i think if someone did a re-edit which basically cut out all the cops, white people, 80% of bubs and that white junkies scenes, i dont know.... maybe i could roll with it? but maybe not because its still so fucking relentlessly depressing.
LOL remember when season 6 the writers decided hey we haven't tapped into AJ's arc enough let's give the actor we've buried for the entire series some massive story lines.
The Many Saints of Newark, marrone. Awful.
An average at best gangster film drowned by utterly needless fan service throughout.
its incredible to me that they had like 6 years and a virtually limitless budget to nail this tomb raid and still managed to fuck it up.
absolutely guarantee they will trot out Saints 2 around spring of 2023 with a cgi tony showing up for flash backs and dream sequences.
I didn’t really like the prequel. The whole race emphasis seemed so 2020/2021, and it was mainly just old callbacks to the series. I did think it was funny how the main characters in the sopranos said dickie was a drug addict just because he had pills tony asked him to get when he died. Also, fucking uncle Junior wacking him for laughing was just meh.
I was a pretty big Sopranos fan, but those episodes where he was dreaming were among the worst in cinema. I think a lot of Directors always try to reclaim the glory of Taxi Driver, with Robert Deniro on the phone in the alley was filmed when he was talking. It was cheered as a huge event, something about the human mind, years later Scorsese just admitted he just stuck it in there in editing. There was no art, but fucking film students, lol, they will find anything to discuss.
Back on topic, as great at Tony taking his kid to college, the dream sequence was 100% worse. They were just out of material at that point. Series went on one too many years.
One more thing, Tony Sopranos kid, AJ. He was infinitely smaller than Tony. That is simply not genetically possible that an offspring could be 1/4th smaller than his Dad. He should have died off of brain cancer or something, because as the series aged everyone knew he was way too small to be Tony's kid.
it should have been revealed that he was actually richie's illegitimate son.
like honestly why not tho.
I've always been a big fan of Sopranos. But I watched the first 40 minutes of this new thing and it was like watching paint dry.
The movie got bad reviews , was going to see it
i like the fact that gandolfini's son is like yeah no im not interested in playing some other version of tony, i really like this character thats all.
the more i read about mike gandolfini the more i actually like him.
honestly show tanked after they killed big pussy, never came close to recovering.
Ratings prove you wrong as is usually the case with your takes.

Pussy was killed at the end of S2. But of course you will come back with some answer on ratings not mattering.
Could not agree with the title of this thread more. S1 was great, the rest was terrible, apexing with that horrible season of dream sequences when we was in the hospital and we knew he was going to live BC he just signed a contract extension that was all over the news.
Fucking horrible.
Succession on the other hand...
you can imagine d. chase looking at the contract and how the numbers went up depending on how many seasons he churned out and how his viewer numbers increased and instantly weaponizing every single character arc into a shitty meme.
chase basically admitted that he had nothing left for us after S2, no dry powder in the chamber at all.
what a waste.
btw Succession S4 is apparently the last season and honestly i hope they stick to that because that fucking show is almost perfect. maybe MAYBE they could toss us a season 5 where cox dies in the first 5 minutes and then we see the remaining principles just kinda fall back to earth and accept their fates as normal jack-off mortals or something. but if we start seeing this show go beyond that, its gonna hurt im guessing.
like i think they could stick a landing with 2 more seasons. more than that and forget it. less than that and im impressed by their discipline and commitment and probably walk away wanting more but glad it ended on a solid note.
