What a fucking embarrassment for the celtics.
Who's the best basketball player in history?Quote:
LeBron James has won 6 straight Game 7s and moves to 6-2 in Game 7s in his career. This will be his 8th straight NBA Finals appearance.
James will become the 6th player in NBA history to play in 8 straight Finals (joining 5 players from Celtics teams of the 1950s-60s).
LeBron James or Michael Jordan?
I think LeBron has past Jordan at this stage.
However, Michael Jordan played on a better team (Chicago Bull's).
The Cleveland Cavaliers suck without LeBron.
If Michael Jordan played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, instead of LeBron, they would not be in the finals.

I don't think I've ever seen a conference finals game where a single player basically wins all four games for his team.
The Celtics aren't exactly a powerhouse in their current condition, but still, this was a damn impressive feat for Lebron.
Can't imagine he can continue pulling this off against the Rockets or Warriors though.
Speaking of which.... I would be very surprised if the Rockets pull it out. I think their blowing of a 17-point lead and then getting blown out is indicative of what's going to happen next.
Guys like tucker and ariza shoot so much better at home though, it is hard to quantify the effects of that. So often in the other games in HOU when it looked like GS was about to go on a run one of those guys would hit a big 3 and shift momentum. Obviously Paul too was pretty instrumental in shifting momentum with big time shots. If HOU role players can keep it close with clutch shooting I think they can win, because GS gets tight and plays poorly at the end in close games.
Rockets are fucked.
Just impossible to beat the Warriors when they are super hot with the 3 ball.
No Chris Paul is obviously a big factor, too.
Yeah. If Rockes could have kept it within 8 GS would have probably gotten tight and started playing bad. But they are such good front runners when it is going real well, it is gonna be almost impossible to come back.
Edit: And Rockets just got it back to 8 and GS getting tight. Lets see what happens.
Fix was in for game 7. Awful officiating in the dubs favor for the second straight game but itll get overshadowed by the TWENTY FIVE consecutive missed 3s by houston. Holy moly...
I don’t even know how Houston was that close considering they missed 27 straight 3s or whatever the hell it was. I mean, that game was there to be had even minus Chris Paul if they hit 4/27 during that stretch.
These are some strange ass games. I understand Golden State getting hot and hitting 3s, but the energy difference from first half to second half this series has been amazing. Just every loose ball and rebound to Houston, enter locker room, and it’s like they all shoot heroin and are so much slower. It seems impossible they’d have any conditioning issues with the pace they play, but man, it’s what I’d think if I didn’t know better.
Fucking Warriors. God do I hate these fuckers, particularly Durant, and they’re going to sweep my Cavs by 100 points. When that scrawny bitch Curry flexes I want someone to run out of the crowd and just ballbat him into a coma.
I don’t think I’ll be watching any sports-oriented shows or listening to the radio for about a month.
this pretty much sums it up...if you told me Houston goes 7-44 from 3 for the game I say they lose by 20 minimum...to be within 9 fucking points after a bed shit that enormous is just stunning and makes it hurt a lot more...kinda like the Celtics losing to a love-less Cleveland...
Absolutely. He went to 9 finals in 12 years and won 5. 3 losses to he Bird Celtics and 1 loss to the Isiah Pistons. Career cut short by AIDS, he could have played another 6-10 years like Kareem did and would have more titles than Jordan. Wouldn't catch up to Russell though, nobody ever will.
I mean, he was drafted by a playoff team who happened to have KAJ and the #1 pick. When he was a rookie, KAJ was the damn MVP. Magic was great. I still remember watching that finals on tape delay. He was a great facilitator and could play all 5 positions. Was great early, but he was on a ready made team. Then in his third year, amazingly as defending champs, they get the #1 pick again from my idiot Cavs and draft Worthy, who is himself a top 25 all-time player. No one has ever had a more charmed career trajectory than Magic up until the AIDS. He was a true point guard on amazingly talent-laden teams. Drafted on to very good team with a top 5 all timer already on the squad and then adds another HOF player very early in his career. He was an amazing player, but he wasn’t better than Jordan or Lebron. He just wasn’t close to the athlete those guys are, and that era was defined by players who didn’t take care of themselves and did cocaine and partied all night. If he didn’t get AIDS, I think he would have surpassed KAJ, and been top 3. As such, he’s like 5 or 6 if we’re being real.
Both those Lakers and Celtics dynasties were kind of built through hinky circumstances. The Lakers has Jabbar and two first overall picks that led to the Stepien rule to prevent idiot owners from trading away all their picks to smarter teams, and Bird got drafted as a JR sixth overall, went back to college, and then on to Boston when he would have been 1b in that draft with Magic. They then passed the Bird rule so teams couldn’t draft guys still in college. Then amazingly after his rookie year and winning 61 games, the Celtics has the #1 pick also. They trade it for Parrish and draft McHale 3rd, so from his second season on, Bird had a totally stacked team, all because already great teams got first overall picks from idiot franchises. Only a few teams made any money and fleeced all the poor bad owners. So you have to look at both those dynasties a little sideways. Amazing good fortune for Bird and Magic. Not anything close to the careers of Jordan or Lebron who started with absolute shit playing next to them.
I lean James based on a lot of things as painful as it is to admit but Jordan was cooler for sure.
Both are cocky as hell and great so we really can't blame them but at least Jordan cared about the fans by entering the dunk a few times while to Lebron it was always beneath him.
Even though he's not obligated to do so Lebron should have at least entered the dunk contest once for the fans. It's good for the game and top tier players making a ton of money should do what is right.
At least Kobe Bryant entered the dunk contest his rookie year.
Again, this contest has nothing to do with legacy but shows a persons overall character.
Lebron and his one hour "I'm taking my talents to south beach" special was one of the most self absorbed things ever in sports.
The guy is great at the game though nobody can deny that taking all these scrubs to finals.
sixers now the vegas favorites to land lebron next season at +150
also, when asked today by TMZ if he can play with lebron, ben simmons said "there's only one way to find out."
please let this happen
Moved the Bryan Colangelo Twitter scandal discussion to its own thread, because I think it's interesting enough to stand on its own: https://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sh...is-own-players
Goddamn i fucking hate golden st.
Someone explain JRs minutes to me? How bad can rodney hood or osman be that they cant absorb SOME of this clowns PT? Hes in the league basement in defensive efficiency and a 3rd grader can see he brings next to nothing on offense. Just play korver 35m, fuck it. At least his brain works.
I’m still seething. Just the most disgusting loss ever.
This game was a clear and accurate portrayal of stupid at it's finest .
1st : I thought the bad calls where about even for both sides ( Besides the reversed charge call with 36 seconds left in the game ) My feeling initially was it was a charge and that was the call on the floor . The reversal was IMO a clear way to keep the game close by the league .
2nd : J.R Smith is stupid? or High? I know this guy smokes a ton of weed but it's game 1 of the NBA FINALS you are on the road . How the fuck do you not know the score ? The way I see it is he just doesn't give a shit either way .
3rd: It was way to obvious in overtime that the warriors where 100% trying to cover the 13 points .
Those are my takes on what was an entertaining game . Only thing that makes that game better is if someone just knocks Draymon Green out . I just want that guy to get punched in the face and go night night
Good Luck
Gookie
Hood has been that bad. Basically like Clarkson last night every time he gets run plus he refused to come into game when they were up 30 a few series ago.
Even though Korver looks 27, he’s 37. He can’t handle big minutes plus they really can’t afford to have him targeted on defense every time he’s in. That’s the Cavs main problem, they have too many bad defensive players. You can fade one in the lineup at a time, but when you have Korver and Love on the court at the same time it’s problematic.
JR’s a much better one on one defender than those guys, he just gambles too much and does dumb shit, but a lot of those metrics are a product of playing on the second worst defense in the NBA. They mailed it in all year. If he’s playing within the framework of team defense, he’s better than the alternative.
For as much as a fuckup as he seems, JR will take this shit harder than anyone. He’s seems like the type that it wouldn’t bother, but he’s almost overly sensitive. Him trying to lie and say he knew it was tied in post-game presser when he clearly didn’t doesn’t bode well for his state of mind. He could be mentally fucked for the remainder of this series with the way he’s wired. If he doesn’t hit first shot next game, he’ll go like 1/9 and overcompensate.
Has to drive Lebron crazy. He can tell you where every player is on the court at the 4:40 mark of the 2nd quarter and what the defense was doing in the post game interviews. Almost perfect recall. That his teammate didn’t even know the fucking score has to make him just rage internally. He played an almost perfect game and had a chance to take game 1.
That backcourt has just killed us this playoffs. Hill misses the ft and J.R. does his thing.
For all the talent on that bitchmade Warriors team, if the Cavs had a Beal or McCollum type at SG, I’d like them to take the whole thing.
Most other Portland fans disagree with me on this, since they tend to have an irrational love with any blazer....except fatass Raymond Felton who mailed it in his one year here. BUT, if LeBron was to stay in CLE, its a clear win-win trade before the draft to do McCollum for Love + #8 pick as a framework for a trade. PDX isn't getting any better with those 2 in the same lineup, as good as they both are individually.
Yeah gut, that is talked about a lot on the Cavs boards also given Love’s connection to Portland. Like you said though, regardless of team, NBA homers are the worst when discussing trades. If you throw in the pick with Love people lose their mind. Everyone always thinks teams will give up gold for your garbage. They think the pick and some bad contracts like TT and JR will get it done. It’s always amusing. You go to a Heat board, they think Hassan and Dion Waiters will get Kahwi. Like those two contracts aren’t negative assets. The delusion of NBA homers makes discussion always amusing.
you guys think a guy like mccollum makes a difference in that game? I go the other way...I think they need more of a guy like Patrick Beverly or avery Bradley (of his Celtics days)...think they have enough guys who can give offense between LeBron, love, korver that if they had a guy that could actually play reliable D they'd be in a good spot...
I mean, there’s a lot of guys who may even fit better, but yeah, I think CJ is a pretty huge upgrade from JR, but then you have to replace Love. You’d lose Loves bad defense and add scoring from SG, thus you’d be able to play TT more. It’s all just theoretical until Lebron decides. CJ is just a guy who kind of fits even if Lebron leaves and Portland may be interested in Live when you look at where he’s from and that what they’re doing isn’t working either. For the Cavs, even in a rebuild they get younger, but if Lebron leaves, they’d likely rather just have the pick. Everyone is pretty much in cap hell outside like 8 teams, so it’s a hard environment to try to get better. You need to match everything when over. Pretty much anything that can be done to improve backcourt for Cavs will be improvement. You can get an upgrade from the pick alone if Lebron stays, but you need to also shed salary in the Cavs situation with that bloated payroll.
So basically the Cavs needed Irving for this series.
As much as it will kill Cavs fans again, their best hope is for the team to blow up and rebuild. They are in cap hell next year again unless Lebron takes a 10 mill salary or they can find a way to dump TWO players and the pick. They will really have to make some magic to somehow dump Love + (JR/Hill/Thompson). Or somehow convince someone like JJ Reddick to play for cheap.
obviously, the NBA Finals are *serious business.*
