like my best guess, and im just being real here, is that they were excluded from whatever QE splash based on the simple fact that they didnt need it, but at face value the price increase discrepancy is just jarring.

Because everything was overvalued to begin with and people spend less money during recessions. And when people buy S&P puts, it turns out that's not great for companies who are in the S&P.
