The conversation needs to start there and then quickly get to things like why mega investment firms and corporations started buying up every home they could in the southwest FIRST. I'm sure the unchecked mass immigration that doubles as a cheap labor force for construction and the houses their presence forced to double in value by choking out an already desperate shortage situation has nothing to do with it all.
