I hate when Presdential candidates talk about education, since they have little control over that. States manage their own educational systems, and any meddling by the federal government (such as No Child Left Behind) end up being bureaucratic failures.
Obama's rebuttal started weak but improved with the specifics in the 2nd half.
Why is Jim Lehrer moderating this thing?
The guy is 78 years old and comes off as at least that old.
Jim Lehrer would have been a good choice for debate moderator in 1988, but not now.
Romney is taking notes while Obama speaks and that makes me think that he is going to kill him on the rebuttals
So far I think that Romney is doing well, but much like the Dodgers, it's probably too late.
Romney is prepared and confident. Strong start. He's got Obama smirking which is not good, just ask Al Gore.

Obama is strong with the teleprompter, but he seems to struggle without it.
The thing he says about energy is what is crushing the middle income families. Energy directly effects everything we do and buy. Lower energy cost will help the middle class the most! I am surprised that Romney didn't mention the hundreds of millions lost by Obama through failed energy companies.
I'm waiting for Romney to draw the mathematics of a tax cut without deductions compared to higher tax rates with many deductions on a card and hold it up to prove Obama wrong.
