Should Dealers Be Allowed to Play in Their Own Card Rooms?
Playing cards in the same room where you are employed should not be allowed at TCH or any card room, especially after the on-stream cheating allegations at California casinos.
I wish there was a law against it. It should at least be a gaming commission and card room rule. Texas doesn’t have a gaming commission so it would have to be a card room rule. You can’t let the dealers play in your room! You shouldn’t let any employees play in your room.
I’ve had a dealer sit down on my left twice to play with me (because I’m a fish) and that just pissed me off! They got paid an hourly wage, plus they got tipped by other players AND ME (I’m a generous tipper); all of this time getting paid to watch how I play, then they’re allowed to sit to my left and play against me? Nope!
I stacked a dealer in an Omaha game at the old Hawaiian Gardens casino. I remember playing against several dealers there in low limit games. Low limit tables are where most players are going to learn the game. This is where you are going to make your first impression. You may be pushing customers right out of the door before they fall in love with the game.
With this card room (Texas Card House TCH Rio Grande Valley) I understand because it’s far from most other card rooms, but it’s on a live stream (about the 59:20 mark) where they explain that the new dealer played in a previous stream). TCH Las Colinas in the Dallas area allowed a dealer to sit to my left. There are several other card rooms in the Dallas area if the dealers want to play. Long ago in Reno it happened and again there were plenty of playing options for the dealer in other casinos. It’s a very bad look for the card room.
What city/state/country do you play in and do they allow their own dealers to play? Should they?
