Idiotic groupthink and corporate/media compliance makes all of them think this is actually societal progress. The few remaining sensible Democrats get shouted down if they attempt to point any of this out.
In the 1980s, there was a strong awareness campaign to teach children to tell their parents if their teachers attempted to talk to them about sex or their genitals. Parents were instructed to remind kids that such behavior is sick and abnormal, and that teachers should never tell them to keep secrets.
In the 2020s, it's now considered brave and empathetic for teachers to talk to young children about sex and their genitals, and there's actually some public school districts with policies which allow (or require) teachers to keep these conversations secret from parents.
