This was quite amusing to see, all stemming from Hollywood Park running an "unauthorized" satty to the WSOP:
WSOP so mad their attempt at online poker got smashed by "illegal sites", maybe if you were not so incompetent you might not have that problem WSOP . . .
And it continues:
Did Seth Palansky take over the @WSOP account for a day (its not Kevmath yet; he doesn't do so until the actual series starts in a week or so):
I think I made him a bit mad lol <3
And now this #rutroh:
This is HOF.
It's all there. Taxes. Light regulation fail with Iovation, WSOP online, etc. etc.
Got anything on the cancelled tournaments?
Feels like a fuse just got lit.
Want more Shizz.
Kevmath will save us
:boom
Yeah, more noise on the subject should be helpful. Fuse is lit.
ACR was the last one (of size) that didn't have an outstanding warrant associated with it. You cannot have (lightly) regulated sites without this inevitable envy and war with the rogue sites.
You think I'm kidding, but these will look like the good old days real soon. I am always searching for that catalyst.
Yeah, that definitely didn't look like Kevmath's writing, so it makes sense he won't be on the account until next week.
I think it probably was Seth Palansky.
Hilarious exchange, and even funnier that ACR canceled the tournament series, despite all their defiant talk at the beginning.
Can't wait for another great kevmath segment next week
Leave it to Srslysirius to drop the true knowledge:
sah_24 really kicked off a brouhaha.
He actually got the @WSOP account to make fun of him for his lack of tournament cashes.
Don't ever change, Caesars.
Imagine how fewer lulz we'd have each year if the WSOP was sold to a different company.
LOL, keeps getting better!
I even got a Chris Moneymaker follow today out of the ordeal lol, for someone who started in late 2003/2004 bc of the ESPN coverage of his event that was pretty cool :) ! Twitter good times lol
BUMP
WSOP is pissed off again at ACR.
I actually don't blame WSOP management for feeling this way. ACR is using the WSOP brand for promotions without permission, and inevitably people will get confused and bitch to the WSOP if anything goes wrong.
The days where these unregulated sites have been able to let players win WSOP ME seats on them and they would be able to register the player, give them free shirts/hoodies/hats,etc. to wear are long over.
If I recall this stopped a year or two before Black Friday so what the sites would do is still offer the WSOP ME package usually $12.5k and only give the player $11.5k withholding 1k until the person proved they were in the event.
I think ACR even tried to withhold the 1k as well until they had proof the person registered since that is what they prefer the player actually play instead of the keeping the cash.
It's a slippery slope imo but you can't blame WSOP for putting out the statement that they aren't recognizing packages won on ACR while at the same time what course of action do they have against an unregulated site for offering the type of package they are? As long as the player gets the full money from the site without obligation (just encouragement) to play the main event then who really cares?
It was nice way back in the day like 2005-2009 where some people would win 5 or more packages on stars and use that money to register for all the other bracelet events boosting the pools in those.
It stopped after 2006, which is when the UIGEA passed.
Prior to that, the bigger sites were actually directly buying players in to the WSOP and handing them their seat cards!
In 2007 and beyond, the sites would have to set up shop in another hotel, and then simply give the players their goodie bags and encourage them to play, wearing the site's gear. The players would have already been given the buyin in their poker site account, and it would be their responsibility to withdraw it and use it for the WSOP buyin.
That's actually what's happening here with ACR, except I don't believe they are setting up anywhere in Vegas.
