Ongoing problem puts radio in jeopardy for next 2 weeks

I have an ongoing dental problem that has led to pain every day since September 22, and it is not likely to get better soon.

The entire bottom-left of my jaw hurts, and I cannot do radio until this improves, for obvious reasons.

I had something similar occur in 2013, and it took 2 weeks to heal from the time I had the procedure done. This procedure was done last Thursday, after 9 days of pain before that.

In 2013, this baffled dentists who looked at it, as my healing was described as "really fast" and "like a 16-year-old", but the pain was unusual and supposed to stop after about 36 hours. Instead it took 2 weeks to stop hurting.

I am not sure why it's like this, but until things get better, there won't be radio. There is zero point zero chance I could stand to talk for an extended period of time.

Apologies to those who have gotten used to the show every week. On the bright side, I have no vacations planned in the coming months, so I shouldn't miss any more shows for that reason.

The culprit of the problem is that you need to drink more prodigious amounts of pepsi. It is also nice to see that switching to Thursdays has alleviated all the past problems of not being able to put on a show. 1 show in the past 4 weeks is Micon type work ethic.

No need to apologize! I feel for you Todd, I have a low pain tolerance when it comes to dental problems. I had an abscess tooth that brought me to tears, my whole right side of my face swelled up where I could barely see out of my eye. Of course it happened during a holiday weekend and the hospital couldn't do shit for me. I wouldn't wish that on my work enemy.

I'm happy to read that its getting better, but I know even a little pain will still cause all the nerves in your gums/mouth to be uncomfortable.

Were you prescribed an antibiotic? If you have an infection which it sounds like you do, you want to make sure that you finish the entire bottle as prescribed even if everything feels back to normal, as the antibiotic still needs to run its course and get rid of all the bad bacteria.

Doctor says take 5 of these and do the show:

I have a feeling I will get the same answer as I did in 2013 (from a different dentist), essentially saying, "We can't see anything wrong, just wait it out."

Every day for the past 2 weeks has gone like this:

- Wake up in a lot of pain

- Take Advil & Vicodin, pain mostly subsides after 15-30 minutes

- Feel okay for a few hours

- Pain comes back big time, and I feel shitty again

- Take Advil & Vicodin, pain mostly subsides after 15-30 minutes

Repeat all day until I go to sleep.

hopefully the dentist will prescribe you something different then vicodin, but probably not if they think the pain should already be gone.

Advil = ibuprofen , vicodin = hydrocodone/acetaminophen

you might need something a little stronger...the show must go on!
