We have heard nothing about his gambling habits or anything related to that from the MGM or anybody. I believe this has not come out because MGM doesnt want it to come out. If it is proven Paddock has a gambling problem, and MGM knew about it, it could be a way to go after the MGM for negligence in the deaths.

Doesnt anyone else find it odd we have no information on his gambling habits or his relationship with the MGM besides a few mealiness statements from his host?
Federal and Local Governments have covered up stuff for the sake of business before. Eric Holder gave HSBC a slap on the wrist for money laundering for Mexican cartels and terrorists in the UK, just because, in his words, if HSBC went down "it would roil markets". You know, laws be damned because markets are more important than jailing criminals and ending their enterprises.

If this was the motive, and I truly think it is the more and more I hear about the guy (and the fact he sounded like a grumpy cunt), there's no way MGM would want that to get out. Or the myriad of casinos in Vegas, for that matter.

They even asked the public for donations towards funeral costs. What the fuck is that about?... A government blank check should be snap made available for all that shit.

    Pathetic.
I'm wondering how many lawyers are descending on the victims' family members to sue Mandalay Bay. Could be ab epic legal battle given the gray area of its liability.

    How were Mandalay staff negligent?

If they would have to do it in Nevada court, they are fucked, because the state protects casinos.

If somehow they could get it done in federal court, they might have a shot, though honestly I don't see them as liable. It is unreasonable to believe that a large hotel has to monitor the movements of thousands of guests. I suppose there could be a small amount of liability in letting him check in under someone else's name, but that really wasn't a factor anyway. He could have checked in under his own name and accomplished the same thing.

Can the internet detectives perhaps come up with an e-mail address this guy used, even if it's a few years old?

There is a nonzero chance that he registered on my vegascasinotalk forum, given his Seven Stars status. vegascasinotalk (and its predecessor before I owned it) has been around since 2010, and frequently came up on google searches for Seven Stars related matters. In fact, the demographic on that site is pretty much exactly that guy -- video poker players in their 50s and 60s.

I would love to search that forum (and even this one) and see if that e-mail address comes up.

Supposedly he had literally zero social media presence, so odds are against.

Whether a lawsuit would have merit is certainly in question, but does Mandalay Bay want to be seen as saying "Fuck off, victims. It's not our fault." The publicity could be horrific.

Also, the lawyers could try suing the venue, which could in turn try to sue Mandalay Bay. Because *somebody* other than the shooter is going to have to "pay for this". That will surely be the public sentiment that builds over this. To protect the casinos, the state might end up working out some kind of deal to partially reimburse Mandalay Bay if it looks like public sentiment will force some kind of monetary relief for the victims/their families.

I agree, but the same can be said for a lot of the older guys on vegascasinotalk.

Even our own Pooh has no social media presence (I have his real name, and he's telling the truth.)

Some people see forums as separate from social media, as they date back much further, and are based around aliases, rather than real names.

I'm not saying that the guy probably has an account there, because he likely doesn't, but at the very least, I feel there's a decent chance he's at least visited the site (or maybe this one), and a small chance he has an account.

    Crazy scenes.

What to do, where to run?

People expressing different reactions in the confusion of it all. Some even standing there calmly filming, completely oblivious to the danger as most try to take cover the best they can around them.

Highly graphic video taken as people fight for their lives.

Makes for some tough viewing. I personally couldn't watch it all.

edit - youtube has pulled it. Probably for the best.

double edit - it has been reposted on liveleak - only worth watching if you believe the whole process was staged.

No need to sue they'll share in millions already...mind you how many is undetermined but HUGE money pouring in.

Apparently the sheriff gets to decide how funds raised is split up (he said "they" haven't figured out how to divide funds yet on news conf today)? How does that work, your mom's dead so you get 10k? You lived without a scratch so here's $2k... just a weird thing.
