many questions:
1. obv a federal judge is no joke, but can this be challenged to a judge in another state? maybe the judge of a non-gaming state?
2. how far reaching is this? they seek to go after his assets in NV, but can they extend this to other countries?
3. don't know if ivey is still in macau or not, but if he is is he in deep shit if he comes back to the states? not from getting arrested, but being forced to pay?
Really? Says who?“Ivey’s holdings have been estimated at $100 million
Ivey sold almost all property in Nevada years ago including his multi-million home in Summerlin.
However, the company that owns Borgata Hotel & Casino is MGM Resorts. Phil Ivey has safety deposit boxes at Aria's poker room (Ivey's Room) and at Bellagio's poker room (Bobby's Room). Maybe they should try looking for large amounts of cash and chips there?
The Borgata Hotel & Casino is the only hotel casino you should visit in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Phil Ivey is broke. No more $500K cars. No more multi-million dollar mega-mansions.
Phil Ivey now travels the world, living off Billionaire Paul Phua's scraps which is tens of millions of dollars a year.
Paul Phua operates out of the Philippines and Montenegro.
Did short-deck poker ever become popular?
I don't believe he has anywhere near $100 million.
I think Borgata is just saying that because they want to justify to the courts that he's blatantly hiding assets, thus perhaps getting granted more power to research his holdings.
Maybe we will have Eric Bensamochan on radio next week and we can ask him about the jurisdictional issues.
I'm just about sure that they can't reach across country borders, but pretty sure anything they find in the US is fair game (though anything within the state is far easier).
Also, short deck poker is starting to spread. There's a $10k short deck event at the WSOP, but curiously no $1500 event, even though I think there would be interest in such a thing.
Also, short deck cash games are now spreading at some Vegas card rooms, though usually at high stakes (which explains why they're only doing a $10k this year at the WSOP).

According to the motion, filed by Borgata counsel Jeremy Klausner, “Defendant Ivey has substantial assets in Nevada. That is where he lives and that is where his businesses are based. In contrast, he has no identifiable assets in New Jersey. Given the foregoing, Borgata satisfies the ‘mere showing that the defendant has substantial property in the other district and insufficient [property] in the rendering district.’ As a result, good cause is shown and Borgata should be permitted to register this Court’s December 15, 2016 in the District of Nevada.”
The motion sites five properties or businesses in Nevada belonging to Ivey:
A condominium in Clark County;
P D Realty, Inc.;
Phil Ivey Enterprises, LLC;
I.V. Ventures, LLC;
Ivey Poker, LLC.
There may be many more assets owned in whole or part by Ivey. The motion mentions a property in Mexico believed to be owned by Ivey, offering: “Ivey has also disclosed a luxury home in Cabo San Lucas, MX on his social media account. [] It is possible that one of Ivey’s Nevada entities is the ultimate owner of this home.” Exhibits attached to the motion include pictures of Ivey at the seaside home in Cabo taken from a 2013 feature on an affiliate blog. One image shows Ivey lounging in a hammock at the front of the oversized, stone-wrought villa, while other images included Ivey posing with his private chef, and also looking out upon the property’s pool and oceanside view.
The motion also reasserts previous claims that Ivey’s total worth has been publicly valued at approximately $100 million.

Legally Ivey or even an American Corp can’t OWN real estate in Mexico due to their strict Mexican only laws. He could have technically a long term lease but ownership rules in MX are pretty locked down. https://www.expatsinmexico.com/forei...o-real-estate/

BULLSHIT, I know many Americans who own property in Mexico that have bought and sold their properties with no problems from the Mexican government.
George Clooney and Cindy Crawford's husband bought and sold their beachfront villas in Cabo San Lucas for around $100 million a few years ago.
If there is some sort of law on the books that is suppose to prevent foreigners from owning property in Mexico, it is not being enforced.
If your Mexican real estate isn't on or near the beach then it isn't worth owning.Mexico real estate located within the restricted zone of 100 km (62 miles) from the Mexican border or 50 km (31 miles) from Mexican beaches cannot be owned directly by foreigners.
Actually, I was the one who discovered the filing and published the docketing into Nevada story last week at Flushdraw. I didn't publish the doc itself because there wasn't much to it, and our system makes uploading of documents very difficult. The teaser was that Ivey was supposed to have appeared at a deposition on Jan. 31, but I have not yet determined if he did appear. He and his lawyer have missed a couple of recent deadlines in related matters.
The other thing I've been working on is more backstory on the Elezra-Mosseri bad-debt feud. I wrote a piece appearing at FD's sister site, VegasSlotsOnline, which has a lot of new info, but I'll go put the link to that in the other thread.

Looks like Aria has cut ties with Ivey.
"Ivey's Room", the nosebleed section of Aria's poker room, has been renamed to "Table 1".
Borgata is now an MGM property.
There is now some speculation that perhaps Ivey is barred from all MGM properties, due to his $10.9 million debt to them.

They should just re-name it Dan Bilzerian's Room.
He plays there more than Phil Ivey ever did.
He probably didn’t show up for a debtor’s examination, which is similar to deposition, but post-judgement. If you don’t show up, you can be held in contempt of court, but usually requires personal service on the defendant (as opposed to mail). If he is out of the country, that could be problematic.
The paperwork filed is similar to enforcing a “sister-state” judgment. If he shows up in Nevada for the WSOP, bam, they serve him at the table! Now if he fails to appear, he’s gonna have to do some ‘splainin to a federal court judge. Believe me, that never ends well. Just look at what happened to Trump’s buddy Roger Stone.
Ivey’s never returning.
I was at the grand opening of the Ivey room. They had a VIP poker tourney. Lots of poker famous folks were there and each had bounties on them. The higher bounties were all put at the tables w the biggest pit players. Local news reporters were there. The chick from American Pie was emcee. Ivey had to make the rounds the night before glad-handing at a cocktail party. Was all a lot of fun.
I’m hoping Ivey took his money and ran after Black Friday and all the sponsorships dried up. Really how much of a public figure has he been since then? I don’t think Ivey is broke but he’s probably doesn’t have more then 20 million. He had to have the money to play and win the 10 million. Obeys just avoiding the judgement probably because he’s being cheated by these court rulings.
Better watch this quick before MGM puts its lien on the sales proceeds and its removed.
Or maybe he's hoping to repay $10+ million simply by selling 120,000 units
