Supreme court rules "Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act" unconstitutional

New Jersey went to Federal court to have the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act overturned.

It was announced today that the Supreme Court ruled the act as unconstitutional and that each state can now decide to legalize sports betting.

Will be interesting to follow and see if other states now start offering sports betting!!

    Per US Supreme Court:

"Congress can regulate sports gambling directly, but if it elects not to do so, each State is free to act on its own."

    Bring it on California!!

I believe I read somewhere in 2017 that the sports books made up only 5.1% of casinos revenue.

Not a small chunk of change, but they'll be able to make it up somewhere else.

    Resort fees maybe? LOL

The same companies who own the casinos own the casinos in other states too, they’re gonna gain from this not lose.

mob has to be pissed about these developments especially once online wagering is live...

cant think of any reason to bet with a bookie once you can do it online...I mean credit would be the only thing, but that just opens up a can you don't want to open up...

this will obviously be an uptick for AC, but if people down there are thinking this will save them they're outta their fucking minds...

PA is definitely going to be legalizing sports betting fairly soon after NJ does and id be willing to bet NY wont be far behind...so if you have mobile betting in philly and NYC there is no reason to make a special trip to AC to bet...also if they open up mobile betting in NJ or corner shops in Hoboken, NYC residents will definitely have no reason to go down to shitty AC...

Not quite correct. It’s a monster handle with slim hold. This is the way god intended. Still quite large.

The observation that many states already have casinos experienced in sports wagering is a good one.

Unfortunately state legislators are imbeciles and will not listen to the casinos to see what has been refined over 50 years. Greedy politicians with no business sense will see this as some windfall and fuck it up. This is a mortal lock.

Legislation, light or otherwise, is never a good thing. Sorry Druff

I could be wrong. There is always a first time for everything.

Penny slots will someday be replaced by e-sports type gaming. The blue haired ladies are dying off and kids have no patience for slots

This is all part of the big casinos in Vegas will die scenario. It’s in my book.

Your favorite US facing online book will become just a memory as legalization ramps up. State legislators will juice the shit out of the state sports wagering offerings.

Said it before, “this is the golden age of sports wagering”. Crypto and smooth online. It was a good run.

Your only profitable option will be the “Mob” or small time guys with skins of apps.

I would advise your local Mob guy to just chill. He will be the price leader in short order.

Gonna give you guys a pro tip.

Download the VSIN app. Sports wagering radio out of SouthPoint. They are doing a marathon atm on the decision. Too much gold to parrot here

Brent Musberger and his brother are the big winners today. This is another great discussion if you choose.

There's no 'non-penny slots' category...are they just calling all slots 'penny slots'?

man it's been too long since I was at the evil empire but I was actually stunned at the amount of revenue and wagering done on the penny slots...something like 14-16% hold if memory serves...

saw people banging away at those penny slots at $2-3/spin and thought, 'you guys are fucking retarded'...but people would rather play a 10,000 line machine at a penny denom instead of a 8-12 line at a quarter...

Musberger is a fucking tool! In real life he is a complete horse racing degenerate gambler. Guy blew his career and is now relegated to a podcast / live show at southpoint basically given to him by Jimmy Vaccaro . Fuck Brent Musberger

I hear ya san, casinos love to juice the shit outta everything 6:5 blackjack and all that other shit...

but that kinda shit hasn't made it to PA or NJ...could be wrong about NJ, haven't set foot inside any of those shitholes in 2+ years...I haven't seen any 6:5 at parx or valley forge when ive been there...

now I could be very wrong about this, but I just don't see new books over juicing wagers...if they aren't doing it at table games, they shouldn't be doing it in sports...

I shouldn't say stuff like that because I worked for a bunch of fucking morons who didn't know how to run a business, but I would think that if east coast casinos started offering shit lines and -115/-120 lines as the norm that they're just not gonna get any business...in this day in age if you don't know a guy, you know a guy who knows a guy or have access to an online book...I would THINK (VERY key word there) that casinos are cognizant of this fact...
