Back on Black Friday I bought this off newegg.com for $19 with a $5 MIR that my forgetful ass will try to remember to send in and free shipping:
I've only used it a few times so far but the thing is quick to heat up, easy to use, easy to clean, and one of the best under $20 purchases I ever made. Here is one sample below of a basic sausage egg muffin breakfast sandwich I made:
It cooks the egg perfectly right into the top half of the muffin a bit and you have to use precooked meats which for this I cooked up a Bob Evans Original Sausage patty out of the tube where I made one for today and one for tomorrow is in the fridge. I just pierced the egg as I cracked it into the top half that cooks it but you can also scramble the egg up then put it in to cook if you choose to.
I haven't been cooking at home as often as before, but I just wanted it to be known, as of a month ago I am officially a 50/50 partner in a deli, and before that was running a semi successful food cart for three months until I was able to make my move.
I am really happy I have finally found a way to be able to fulfill my dream in life and pay my bills by feeding people.
flame away about what a loser i am

And just to get the mouths wet. Here is some corned beef being brined and ready to get smoked the next day. We cure all of our own meats for our sandwiches. When you get one from us you're not getting that processed bullshit.

pulled bbq chicken sandwich, 'smashed' potatoes and some sweet pickles. lunch yesterday, honestly though..... i fucking hate sweet pickles.
Couple weeks ago, I got my hands on a bread machine. It was new in box, never used, but old, like 7-8 years old. Long story short, it didn't work, and I now had all the ingredients for bread, but no machine, no bread mixer, and no real idea how to make bread. Turns out it's not too hard to turn out a very basic but kinda awesome loaf.
After a bunch of reading, I went with what I think is the easiest way. No Knead bread. Went with this recipe the first time. Got a good looking result, awesome crust, but clumpy and not as great inside. Promising, tho.
One issue is it didn't rise enough the first time, and I used active dry yeast, which I found out is definitely not instant yeast. With that in mind, I went this route yesterday: http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/2009/...n-believe.html This was even a little easier, no dutch oven involved.
before the oven
and done
worth it for the smell alone. well, not just the smell. Bread's easy enough if you ain't picky.
You want fries with that?
Fuck that frozen shit. We cut our own and soak and fry them twice. Get a side of some malt vinegar and ketchup and welcome to heaven

Oddly insulting? Not sure what to think of that post. Are there even $400 bread machines? Sure as fuck harder to make half-decent bread than any type of breakfast sandwich, but that machine sure got a whole lot of love. Considering you merely put the raw ingredients into the bread machine, and it spends the next bunch of hours doing the shit you no longer have to do, fuck yeah, I'd be psyched to have (a working) one. People did a whole lot of shit for thousands of years before machines came and made tasks easier and a lot faster. I didn't realize that was a bad thing.
You owe bread machines an apology. As far as people making bread the same way for thousands of years, I'd say people have been making bread thousands of different ways, for thousands of years.
I have a bent against consumerism, as some may have figured out, but it's more of a personal issue in that I learned how to make bread when I was like 7 and no such machine existed and I always chuckle whenever I walk by them in Macy's. In your defense, the person that taught me how to make bread.. uses her bread machine all the time.
Deeper still, I keep on running into problem solving things that are sold to modern man that has forgotten how to do the most simple things. I mean the shit that people figured out during the Roman times, we now think we need space age technology to replicate. I just feel that people are getting stupider in lieu of having a cool gadget.

i do prefer cheese, but i had a burger with no cheese once at blueberry hill (a bar/restaurant/live music venue here in stl) that blew my mind
the actual beef was that fucking good. it was literally the burger, a bun, and some pickles and it was one of the best things i've ever eaten
if you're ever in stl, def stop in for one. you won't be disappointed
