Edit: all the big games online are mixed or 2/7 and a bit of PLO. I was wondering if the high stakes players NL are bored or more likely want less variance.

Played most formats but mainly mtts, even though I've grown to dislike them more and more over the years (probably coinciding with not winning as much due to lack of bankroll/volume/games getting tougher).
I prefer live cash as I've done quite well at £1/1 and £1/2 over a small sample, but the games are usually super soft.
I multi table a mix of everything otherwise there just is not enough action on the Nevada site .0 limit games run
Pre-BF I played holdem sngs and tournaments. I used to focus on nlhe and lhe, but at some point switched to mixed games and then when I focused on stud8 was when I really hit my stride which sadly came only two months before black friday. Now I only play live and mostly play lhe with the occasional nlhe, o8, and mixed games.
I only played online when drinking. I get your point about the impatient thing. No matter how hard I tried, as the night wore on anything suited would be a great hand.
Back in the day, my apartment backed up to a lake. There are a minimum three laptops in that lake from 2005-2008. The last one was a hand I lost to one of those TV pros on Absolute Poker. He went all in with Q9 preflop and I had KK. He caught a straight, and UIGEA hit a week later and that was that. I always wondered after the scandal came out if I was scammed. I lost $1,400 on that hand and laptop ended up in the lake. Outside of some sketchy sites I tried that was the last legit hand of online poker I played. I transitioned for a year to live poker exclusively and that was even worse, the monotony. I almost got killed in Shreveport one night when I told a black guy at the table to fuck off after he flushed me on the river and began high fiving his buddies. He followed me around the casino for like two hours after I felted him a couple hands later. True story.

I was terrible playing poker while I was drinking. I had no patience and no fear. A bad combination for me. However a little weed and the game just became more interesting and really slowed down. I don't know what it is, but internet poker and marijuana are a match made in heaven.

I play poker in the best games possible in terms of players, not game type. I prefer PL Omaha variations but players dictate what I'll play.
Pre bf I did guarantee plo because it was awesome. Also Sunday majors. Now I play Omaha 8 up to 20-40. 3-5 hold em, and tourneys ranging from 500 - 1500. Satellites into majors, if it's allahs will.

If playing live then NL or RxR games. I like straight PLO or PLO8 but those games don't run much by me.
For online I prefer SNGs and MTTs. You can burn a lot of money just playing MTTs so I play a lot of HU SNGs, DONS, and some other various formats. I don't play much cash online anymore like I once did but I will still play some PLO8 and lower stakes PLO/NL for fun.
