Chicago Trip Report

Gambled and took a trip to Chicago. Didn't get shot.

Will try to provide more of a trip report later, but here's a few anecdotes for now.

1. PLOL stood me up.



I had messaged him here on PFA in advance, then texted him once I got a tmobile pay per day (side note Tmobile coverage sucks my ass. Tons of dead zones from Michigan-> Chicago, plus even in Chicago the coverage was spotty and inside buildings barely worked at all).

2. Gas prices. On the way down I scored gas for 3.28 in some little shit town in Michigan. The only reason I ventured into Shit-town, MI was to eat at Chili's and somehow luckboxed into cheap gas. On the way home stopped at the exact same gas station and it was 3.49. Are you shitting me? 0.21 increase over the course of 3 days?

3. Haven't had too many super hot days this summer, so my body was not prepared for the humidity in Chicago. (In before fluffer says I need to work out ala Druff)

4. Cabbie fraud alert



Popped into a Giordano's and was taking a cab back to the hotel. It was a SUV cab, and I wasn't sure if that added cost so I popped my head in and said same cost as regular cab? He says yup, so we all get in.

I look over at the meter and it's already 5.15.



So I say are you going to reset the meter?

Cabbie: Oh uh ya yup sorry.


Not sure what Druff would do here. Would he note the taxi # and try to report him? Or let it slide as I did?

5. Lol Protestaments

Round 1


Walk through the hotel lobby and see ~5 cops. Start wondering if we'll see someone bleeding out, or perhaps some Crips or Bloods being arrested.

Turns out there is a Middle East protest happening right in front of the hotel. There were ~30 cops out front all making sure nothing went down, but for round 1 it was all pro Palestine /anti-Israel protesters.

Round 2
Later on get back and it has died down. Only about 5 cops total, and a handful of protesters but the Jews finally showed up.




Some yelling back/forth, the Palestinian lady yelling "quit killing our children, we want peace".

Idiots.

If you paid anywhere under $4/gallon, consider yourself blessed by Allah himself. Gas was almost $5/gallon in downtown Chicago a few months ago.

Dang, I should've told you not to take any cabs while in Chicago (especially now). Uber is not only better, it's significantly cheaper (like 50% cheaper because they're doing some promo the whole month of August). Can also use the promo code uberChicagoFree and your first ride will be free.

I'll catch you when you're back in town in a few months and can head down to Hammond.

This summer has been chillier than normal, but you came during a hotter/humid week. Right now it's 90 degrees and raining. I feel like I'm back in Florida

5. Lol Protestaments

Simp doesn't travel cheap. That's an old money hotel.

I know that exact spot that lady is standing very well. That is where you catch the shuttle to the casinos and home of the 4 Dollar candy bar in gift shop.

That spot is also where the 1968 Democratic Convention Chicago Police beat down happened.

I smoked a joint on this statue with some friends after a wedding at the Hilton

Then I pulled a big guy in a little coat when I drunkenly took another guys tuxedo jacket.
About 4 hours later someone asked me WTF was i doing in that tiny jacket.

Also weird that place was named The Haymarket considering that is name of a place where a famous Chicago bombing took place.
