I've lived in this dumbass, soulless town my whole life. Pretty simple solution involves each county contracting with local construction companies that own lots of trucks and employ a lot of Mexicans and just shovel the salt out the back, or modify the trucks for salt dispersion. If you have these private companies on call, it fixes a lot of the problem.

Instead, a little sleet brings this god-forsaken place to it's knees -- local businesses are devastated, our kids are taught the terrible lesson of learned helplessness, blah blah. The insta-surrender from the city and its citizens is fucking embarrassing. I do not understand why Sherman burned this place to the ground, we would of collectively snap-surrendered.

My flight to Atlanta was cancelled as expected. Stuck in LA now.

There are worse places to be stuck. You should try to encourage your girlfriend to leave Atlanta.

I have family that has been out of school for almost 2 weeks now because of 3 inches of snow here in NC.

I don't have a snow shovel and actually cleaned off my driveway with a broom, but the area is paralyzed.

The main problem has been the frigid temperatures. The snow starts to melt in the afternoon sun and then freezes into sheets of ice at night. Last week I slid down the ice to get the newspaper and there was no way to get back up. I couldn't get a grip with my feet so I actually got on my hands and knees and crawled up like a baby. Embarrassing.

This was weird. I just heard a bunch of rumbling. I open the door (at midnight) and it is thundering while it snows. I have never experienced that before. All of the sudden I hear the neighbor couple across the street yell Thunder Snow and laugh. It is pretty damn cold and late to be standing outside but it sounds like they might be drinking. No work for them tomorrow.

There is only 3 inches of wet heavy snow but no electricity this morning. I find it strange that total silence is strange to me. No heating fans or the humming of appliances is the weird bit.

Thankfully my internet and laptop(battery) are working or I might have had to read a book.

It snowed 8" the other day & then drifted my garage door closed to the point where I needed to shovel it with 3 broken fingers(don't ask) just to get the fuckin' thing open & it's now -32C overnight with a daytime high of -23C so you pussies need to STFU.
