One of the more volatile 24 hour periods in bitcoin history.
Started around 1200.
Rose to 1350, a new record high.
Crashed to 975 on the SEC news.
Currently sitting at 1196, thanks to speculators buying them back up, expecting a bounceback.
So we can all go to sleep and pretend that today never happened, as BTC finished pretty much where it started.
Back up to $1200. No one seems prepared to give up the ghost on these just yet.
definitely still downkdown tho.

I know it's hard to admit when you are wrong, but I kind of just predicted the dip 2 days ago. It will continue to go down, but it will be back up again. If anyone still is holding onto short-term coin, I would sell but keep the money handy for when it dips $400-$500.
Ryback_feed_me_more: Oh come on tine you know you wished you bought a shitton at single digit dollar prices youd be a rich mofo and paid cash for your NY house youre having to renovate
part of me is like 'oh mannnn i could have so much disposable wealth right now' and another part is like 'or be haunted with inconceivable regret and pain because i sold them all at like $40 a pop and lost it all in one pot to rivered overquads in plo'.
all said and done, im at peace with my world right now.

I've never experienced this before, as it is usually basically instantaneous but i just bought 50 bux worth from coinbase and then i always insta-ship it to blockchain and then from there to my sportsbook...
only problem:
this time it has been stuck on "pending" for 2 full hours now on my coinbase and has not yet showed up to blockchain....
WTF?
Rising tide lifts all boats. Ethereum is like the poor man's Bitcoin, similar to how silver is the poor man's gold. It is up 40% in the past 24 hours while Bitcoin hasn't gained anything. One thing I learned from stock trading, when you see the trash getting bid up it is time to take some profits. Lets see what happens.
There are two major complaints about bitcoin in 2017.
One is that transaction times are way up, thus the slowness you're experiencing.
The second is that transaction fees are way up -- now more than $1 each in most cases.
These both may indeed be big problems in the future.
just 10 days ago or so i did the same thing and my coin went from coinbase to blockchain in minutes....
is this a brand new thing?
still not there, i might add.... i mean is it going to be there by tomorrow so i can bet the tournament errrrrrrrr whats up?
Depends on how much you paid to transfer it and mining in general.
I had one take 10 hours but it finally went through.
Should we get ready for BTU Coins?
I'd start paying attention these things are dropping again.
1173 as of this.
Ethereum now has 1/5th the market cap of Bitcoin. Bitcoins are too expensive so folks are buying the cheaper coins.

It is all psychological. People don't want to buy in fractions. When gold was soaring in the late 80's, people could have bought fractions of gold as the price kept going higher. They sell 1/10th coins even 1/20th coins but folks don't like to do that. They turned to buying silver coins instead because they appeared cheaper. Same thing going on with these bitcoin substitutes.
