I inherited a house that is within 45 minutes of a poker room. We are selling our current home so our monthly nut is very small. I will not touching our savings or any investments. I have a bank roll of about 6K. I really dislike my job and really just want to take a whack at playing poker. My goal would be to make $1000 a month.
Most will say don't quit your job. Well, in June we are moving so I would be quitting anyway. I basically want a 3 1/2 month vacation to play poker and see if I can do it. My goal is 1K per month because that is half of our monthly nut. Technically my wife's salary could pay our monthly nut but that doesn't seem fair.
Bonus, wife already has job offers at new home. I do not.
What should I do? I really have wanted to try and play for a living. If I fail I at least tried.
The room I would be playing in is extremely soft. I have never averaged the $20/$25 per hour at 2/5 that all these people claim. I tend to average in the $10/$15 range. I don't think I would start playing 2/5 I think I would start playing 1/2 at the beginning. It's super soft with much less risk.
Any thoughts?
