After looking at pretty much every house and condo from San Diego to LA I ended up getting a really cool house overlooking Laguna Beach...
It took a lot of research to find this place, most places were little cottages or that "beach house" type of place, which wasn't what I wanted and for the money this place is a one of a kind deal. Most places like this would cost no less than $1k per night, I got this place for $1450 for 4 days and 3 nights. I was really excited about this and so was she. We had it booked for this coming Tuesday.
So, yesterday I get an email from the rental company saying to please contact them. I call and some woman tells me that they have to cancel my reservation because the washing machine malfunctioned and flooded out the entire downstairs and the hardwood floors needed to be replaced. They told me this happened on Wednesday and were hoping to have it finished before I got there, but that the contractors told them it was going to take at least a couple of weeks to get the job done. Fucking weak!!!! She tells me they will immediately refund my money and that they were very sorry. Also, usually they would offer me something else, but the other two properties they have in Laguna are already booked.
Obviously I am extremely disappointed, not just because of them cancelling, but also because it was a huge pain in the ass finding something I liked, and now I literally have 2 business days to find something else. I let them know this and they just say "yes, we understand, we are very sorry." No offer to make things right in the future, just a sorry.
It takes me up until a few hours ago to find something else suitable, but still not near as cool as this place. It was literally a one of a kind deal. At any rate they sent me a receipt via email for my refund, but still the $1450 hasn't shown back up in my bank acct.. I called them again today to let them know and they tell me it will take 5-7 business days to show back up. I'm not too worried about getting scammed, the company is legit and has a good rating with the BBB, but fuck man, what a shitty deal. What if I needed that money for the vacation and these assholes have it tied up for a week? Luckily I don't, but they don't fucking know that. So, couple this with the inconvenience this has caused me having to scramble to find something else with 3 days notice, and I think I deserve a lot more than just a "sorry".
