If you had $40,000 to start a business.....

What would you do with it?

Thinking about starting a new business, current one is just too hit and miss these days. Then again I am sure that is the case with a lot of industries.

There are all types of "opportunities" I have been seeing on line for various franchises for all types of shit. This idea just kind of came to me recently, so I'm just brainstorming if a move like this is even wise/worth it.

If the money was right I could go anywhere in the country, or further.

Move to Florida. I started with about 65k almost 7 yrs ago. It's hard work doing what I do though. 40 might be a little light...it could be possible. I'd stay away from franchises though. If I were to do a franchise it would be a five guys type thing...but you need a lot more than 40 for that.

I am used to hard work, not a problem. Outside of 3 years of my life that is all I have done.

What do you do? Pm me if you want......

Invest in starting a MMJ facility. Avoid Michigan,California and NJ.

First you need to realize you may not make a lot in your first year, this can be tough! So you may need a part time gig to supplement your income.

Small engine repair can be a good busness if you are mechanically inclined if you have a garage you can start from there and move up.

And the best advice I have been given was to keep your busness small and manageable try not to hire help untill you are sure you need help!

Let me know IF you want me to elaborate I have a lot of experiance this kind of thing

Don't think learning a new trade would be something I'm really interested at this point.

I currently have a business I built so I know how it is in the beginning.

If you can elaborate please do, I am all ears.

It is safe to say that is not an option, I had a few "misunderstandings" with law enforcement in the past.

What field are you currently in?

Do you hate the field or is it just too up and down?

I am a landscape contractor. Have had my own business for a while. Love it to death, but the money that used to be there isn't there anymore and I don't see that changing anytime soon. It is seasonal to boot.

I was trying to get into real estate renovation locally but getting a loan is hard as shit right now, and property around me is pretty expensive. I know a shitload of friends that are contractors but I just can't get a fucking loan for shit.

Are you familiar with networking groups like BNI?

Also, instead of renovation, you could add Handyman services. There is a huge need for stuff like handyman services and can help pay the bills when there is crappy weather or during the off-season.

You could assume that Maryland will legalize table games and try to get in on the ground floor there. There are lots of ancillary companies to casinos.

EDIT- If you're dealing with casino, the most important thing is to offer them good customer service, namely speed and support. Price is far less important, so there's profits to be made if you have your shit together. When casinos need something, they very often need it today, and it absolutely positively has to be right.
