Ignore the "censoring" part of the tweet, as it appears these videos were just taken down from other platforms due to the "gambling" content.
But her story is interesting. Jen is one of those independent VIP hosts where you go to her if you want to get into clubs or whatever. I don't know her, but she also gets Vegas gossip and promotes her business that way.

LOL.
MGM Resorts is going to regret not paying the ransom. They are so fucked. Time to start shorting MGM Resorts stock.

There are reports of people getting unauthorized charges on their credit cards from MGM properties and BetMGM. This is not 100% verified, but I'm hearing it in multiple places.
That woman "Jen G" I quoted earlier posted a screen shot from a supposed "software engineer" (not at MGM) explaining that these were likely "test charges" to hit these people's credit cards later. THIS IS NOT LIKELY WHY IT'S HAPPENING, as I will explain below.
https://twitter.com/vegasstarfish/status/1701838551430959498
This guy's theory is almost surely incorrect. A "test charge" is not needed to determine the validity of the card. Remember, these were cards recently used successfully by the guest at MGM properties, so obviously they're still valid, unless they just expired!
Therefore, I'm guessing that these charges are either outright theft, or more likely, a way to further torture MGM for not paying the ransom.
These hackers are after big money -- tens of millions. They're not looking to steal $200 from people's credit cards, unless they are doing it to so many cards and have an exit strategy to dump the money elsewhere (such as a refund to another card). But I'm guessing the goal here really is just to cause further chaos and anger at MGM, to where they'll either cry "uncle" or other companies will fear turning down the ransom demands in the future.
sonatine will get a kick out of this one.

Remember that Twitter hack, where someone took over several prominent blue checkmark accounts, including Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Apple, and many others? (This was before Elon bought it, by the way.)
That was done in similar fashion. The hacker simply called up an idiot Twitter employee, and social engineered him into handing over a control page's password, and the hacker was able to breach any account he wanted.
If this report is correct, it looks like the same thing happened here, though details were not provided.
Great thread, thank you for sharing.
yeah i posted this earlier in the page, seems to be accurate and very much inline with that groups MO.
i recently did some research on lapsus$ for work related reasons, they are the fucking masters of this.
remember the uber hack?
lapsus$ bought a contractors credentials on dark web and used it to breach uber but couldnt get into the soft underbelly. so they got on sosh and did a _ton_ of research on the employee, specifically keying in on what his sleeping pattern likely was. so they waited until he was asleep, then bombarded his phone with 2fa requests so they could access the corporate VPN iirc and expand into the meaty part of uber's infrastructure.
and then they reached out to the employee on telegram and said 'yeah hey this is IT security, the VPN authentication is spazzing out and the only way to make it stop is to ack one of the requests, sorry bro'.
and so thats what the contractor did. and then they proceeded to absolutely pillage uber's data and eventually got bored of it and posted in uber's corporate slack that they had been hacked.
and within 30 days of the hack going public, uber went from 31.93 a share to 24.71 a share.

The kid formerly dba Vegas Daughter is a dev for reservation software and MGM is a client.
She is working on future products and unaffected by this but has looked at private channels for entertainment purposes.

I gave her the Vegas Locally Twitter - apparently never looked after all these years
I can’t say anything else.
Self confessed brag post
I think Sonatine suggested buying the dip the other day. I looked as he has a unique confluence of experience in both realms - I just couldn’t push the buttons given my core loathing of inept casino stocks.
I haven’t looked at casinos lately although my instincts regarding interest rates and casino debt loads looks like a thesis worth exploring and using as an outlet for my hate

theres really no point in shorting it unless you think MGM is going to literally fold.
if your thesis is to attack value imbalances, historically it makes sense to scale into long positions on the way down. retail is going to sell based on the news and institutional is going to buy the recovery. i know which side id rather take in that fight, personally.

speaking of mood, moodys just fired a shot over the bow; continued disruption = negatively impact MGM credit.
