Less of an event than I expected, because they simply remade the exact episodes from the 70s verbatim.

    What I liked:
    - The sets, which were a faithful re-creation of the '70s versions

    - Jennifer Hudson's version of "Movin' On Up" before The Jeffersons started

    - Marla Gibbs' cameo

    - The actor who played Lionel did a pretty good job, as did Wanda Sykes (Weezy)

    What I disliked:

    - Most of the actors were doing an over-the-top impersonation of the original actor/actress who played the role, and for the most part didn't do it well. Woody Harrelson was awful. Marisa Tomei seemed clueless regarding how to properly play Edith. Jamie Foxx could have actually done a good impression of Sherman Hemsley's George, but instead he was overly shaky and hammy. The actor who played Mike had no energy, and the actress who played Gloria looked and acted nothing like the original character -- and even had the wrong hair color! (Was a wig out of the budget?)

    - Neither episode chosen to re-make was very good in the first place. Odd choices, to be honest. The "All in the Family" episode choice was especialy baffling, because it was one of the worst of the series, and several of the characters didn't act like themselves (Mike, Archie, and Frank Lorenzo did several things out of character). In fact, the Frank Lorenzo character was really annoying the first time around, and was uncharacteristically over-the-top and hyper. He didn't act like this in other episodes, and I found it annoying in both the older and the remade versions.

    - There wasn't a whole lot of creativity involved here, simply reenacting old shows. Why not write some new content, even content which is '70s relevant, given that you have these great sets at your disposal?

    - Acting mostly sucked. I realize it was live, but it was like they did limited rehearsing.

    - I didn't like the constant breaking of the 4th wall by zooming away and showing us the sets from a distance

    - The number of commercials was insane. Keep in mind they took 90 minutes to remake two 30-minute program

How is this legal? I know USA is lax on advertisements but I thought it was a max of 12 min/60 and thats why almost all TV shows have 48 min epsiodes.

Most hourlong shows in the US are 43 minutes these days. 48 minutes was a long time ago.

Shows like Superatural are down to 40 minutes, the final was 39:57

    Angel Season 4 ep 2 is 40m 23s and that's from 2003.

The trend of 20 minutes of ads in a 60 minute show has been around for awhile.
With Netflix its probably less obvious since shows can be as long as they need to be to tell the story.
