Matusow says that he's loyal to his friends, and that's actually true.
I knew a guy in the 2000s who was perpetually broke, and was friendly with Mike. Matusow repeatedly put him in action, just to be nice.
I also once went to dinner with Matusow, and he insisted upon paying for everyone's meal in the large party.
For all of his problems and mistakes, he actually has a big heart.
Interesting podcast though.
I did laugh at how Matusow believed he was worth more than $50k/month at Full Tilt because he "worked hard to promote it". Huh?
He's also correct about the part where he owed money to Full Tilt, and he (along with others) was blamed for holding up Full Tilt's sale to Group Bernard Tapie.
It was a bullshit move on the part of Tapie as a negotiation tactic.
The same BS was said about Barry Greenstein at the time, over $400k he owed.
Here's a blog I wrote at the time about it: http://dandruffpoker.com/barry.html
However, I will say that Matusow doesn't seem to understand why this was all bullshit, and instead uses the logic that the $100k he owed was never expected to be repaid (even though it was a loan?), and that Full Tilt was making so much money that he shouldn't have owed it. Huh??
Around the 31 minute mark, he reveals both that Howard and the others on the Full Tilt board bashed Ivey, and that he felt that Chris Ferguson wasn't as guilty as it appeared
I also don't understand how he took "calls" on a podcast, especially since he never gave out a phone number.
