Bill Clinton was also an unusual candidate -- a mostly-unknown who rose quickly and inspired a lot of people, in what was otherwise going to be a weak Democratic field. (Part of the reason for the weak field was GHW Bush's 91% approval rating in January 1991!)
Anyway, we're not likely to see anything like this again, because we're in the internet and social media age, and everyone now has instant access to much more information. It's virtually impossible to enter the race less than a year before the primary and emerge victorious. One exception might be an already well-recognized figure doing so, but other than that, we're not going to see it happen.
The nominee will be one of the four I named, for sure.

I didn’t hear them ask about his eye. Watching him struggle, the rumors that Obama advised him not to run are probably true. Actually a bit uncomfortable to watch someone go downhill mentally. Unfortunately, almost all of us will experience this same fate.
As for the other candidates, Warren seems to have a ton of energy.
