If I was there, you would not have seen any charges for sauce on the bill.

The rest of the stuff you cant really do much about at a place like CUT.

Having had dinner with druff before I will say he was pleasant and normal and tipped well. He saves all the good stories for PFA.

Sad I missed the meetup, my man brandon is a blast to be around and a very generous person and lover (from what I hear).

GL to all in the wsop and #michaelisgod

So you are saying that you would have put in the work to get the bill from $1135 down to $1122?

Not any work, but when we ordered the steaks and people asked for sauce, I would have said, "Is there a charge for those?"

And when the answer was yes, I would have said, "Since we're spending like $1000 here, can you please waive that?"

    And that would be that.

If you are invited to a dinner where the host picks out the place, and makes it clear to you how you should have your meat prepared there, is it not tacky/rude to then go and slop steak sauce on top of it?

Edit: Obv if the host himself orders it then it's a different story. Although to me the sauce not being on the table is already the chef telling you to not sauce his meat. I don't see a place selling 108 dollar mac and cheese not having sauce on the table for money making reasons.

Oh, and this is probably unrelated to the meal you guys just had, but what absolutely tilts me at steakhouses is when people order a substantially smaller steak for essentially the same price.

So the menu says something like:

    Filet Mignon 8 oz $52
    Filet Mignon 12 oz $57

... if someone orders the 8 oz at that point, I just want to smack them.

The Jew in me just goes absolutely nuts.

I usually offer to pay the $5 difference for them, and tell them to cut off what they don't want and give it to me.

This is also probably why I've gotten fat, but a Jew's gotta Jew what a Jew's gotta Jew.

I was at Smith and Wollensky a couple years ago in NYC, I took 5 people out and I said get whatever you want, knowing they would not abuse the alcohol. They did not, but as a table we ordered three crab cakes as an appetizer and I thought they would be $20 a piece or something as the crab cake appetizer (not entree). They were $50 a piece, total of $150. I was like WTF? I did not question it, but I was fucking pissed leaving there. A crab cake appetizer should never cost as much as a steak entree.

I would not have objected to the sauces though like Druff. Restaurants need to do that. They are not interested in the $2. They are interested in just trying to prevent the abuse, if you do not charge for it, it becomes McDonald's ketchup packets. People just ask for more and more and more and throw away like 3/4th of the ketchup packets. I know a guy who actually uses A-1 steak sauce and dumps literally the entire bottle on his plate and 3/4 the sauce is there when he is done. I look at him like WTF, you just wasted something for no reason.

Even though there are a lot of high end steak places in Vegas, you still have a lot of tourists who are poor that go there for a once in a lifetime experience and have no idea how to act. They would order every sauce on the menu if you did not charge for it. I don't know how you could ever be a waiter. Every fucking time there is always someone at the table that asks for more Ranch dressing, and the poor slob waiter has to walk like 100 feet and get the obligatory black cup of dressing. If there was a $2 charge tourist dork might think twice before asking.

The waiters at these places should be kissing the feet of whoever hired them.

They make a lot of money, because the tips are much higher due to the high price of the meals.

I'd much rather be a waiter at a steakhouse and have to run for sauces every so often than have an "easier" job at Denny's where I'm lucky if I get $7 tipped on each check.

And you just successfully made everyone at the table feel uncomfortable over $14. What happens if the waiter has to get the Manager to approve and he comes over to the table? Then you just made everyone feel uncomfortable twice.

Just because you are picking up the check for other couples does not give you the right to ruin the experience for everyone else.

    You shouldn't feel uncomfortable.

Most people are quietly annoyed by the sauce charge, but are either too embarrassed to say anything about it or don't want to bother. However, when someone else brings it up politely and the charge gets waived, they are happy, provided that there isn't a scene made over it.

saw the sauces on the bill and was floored that they would do this at a high end spot, but then I realized a huge thing...

id be willing to guess that minimum 75% of this outlet's "revenue" is comp revenue...meaning there's not a lot of business that just shows up off the street and plunks down a CC or cash for the meal...just a bunch of people eating on the casino's dime...the cash customers end up getting fucked in the ass by outlets like this, but they charge crazy silly markups to make the player feel like they've gotten this great expensive dinner for their gambling troubles OR in the case of cheap ass 'evil empire' outlets that the customer has to use more comp dollars to pay for their meal, thus lightening the comp dollar liability of the company...

casinos are fucking amazing places nowadays in the name of scraping an extra 0.01% of margin outta each and every transaction...

Shit Ken you must hang out with some real uptown n-words. I'm the exact personality as someone who would get uncomfortable eating with someone that is making demands but not about that. If A1 is free at Dennys it should be free at this fucking place. Like I said in my previous post, I highly doubt this shit isnt on the table because of nickle and diming. It's not on the table because you have a chef with a huge ego.

In your situation, half the people shift their conversations sauces, the other half are like WTF, but you single handily changed the conversation to nothing anyone wanted to talk about. If you are that agitated about something like this, quietly excuse yourself and walk to the hostess table and ask for the manager and state your case. But to do that in front of others as people are ordering is about as petty as you can get. Not everyone at the table is looking to get the best deal believe it or not.

A high end steak place is not Dennys. You probably cant get a milkshake at most high end steak places, but you can get one for $2.99 at Dennys. What don't you get here? You want free steak sauce go to Dennys not CUT. Conversely don't go to Denny's and ask for grilled asparagus sprayed with hollandaise sauce either.

    or STEAK SAUCE // 4.75
