I actually built a gaming rig for my kid last year. Air cooled. I don't think the new stuff runs as hot.

Looks like it's in the x8 or x4 slot because the cooler is too big.

I just checked the specs. Only one slot is running at x16
Not a huge difference but the x8 and x4 slot have less bandwidth.
