Seriously... How you not say Abraham Lincoln??? The guy wrote the Gettysburg Address while riding on the train to the speaking engagement, and gave possibly the most monumental speech in the history of the US.

Oh. And Lincoln, who had over a decade of experience as a highly successful trial attorney composing and delivering opening and closing arguments before stepping commitedly into politics in the 1850s, wrote his own speeches. By himself. No speechwriter necessary.

But then again, his speeches were given long before radio or television. Heck! Even before audio recording was invented! So, it's not altogether surprising that he would be overlooked by those politically weened on countless rebroadcasts of speechifying by more recent presidents.

i think people are underestimating how much obama actually hates trump and despises the idea of a trump presidency following his tenure. regardless how much you hate or love him, he is a very popular outgoing president and maybe the heaviest hitter in modern history ever seen on a campaign trail. neither party had this luxury with their recent 2-term incumbents. maybe he decides he wants to put hilldog on his back and carry her across the finish line as one final FU to the republican party.
