It really makes us appreciate the freedom we have as Americans living in the United States. Yeah people bitch and moan about our legal system but nothing compared to what you might have to deal with upon entering foreign soil. Basically when you leave the U.S. and you are American , your rights are stripped PERIOD. What would be considered a small fine or maybe no fine in state regulated law , is considered a major crime when you leave the good ole US of A. Not pleased, I just think the hysteria is comical.

1) I claimed to be calling on behalf of a Canadian, and there were no Canadians there. So they literally have no one to blame.

2) They aren't just going to pick randoms out of hundreds of people in the camp and beat them for a phone which doesn't exist.

3) They can't expect the conditions of the camp to be a secret, because many people (including the 2+2 OP) have been released, and can obviously tell their stories once safely in their home country. So it's not like I called up there and revealed I knew some huge secret.

4) The guard who answered the phone is probably lazy, and isn't looking to start a huge inquisition over one phone call about a prisoner who didn't exist.

5) If anything, our phone call might have helped matters, because they will release that outsiders are now onto what's going on there, and they might get worried and clean things up. But let's be honest here -- nothing is going to happen either way.

Agree. As everyone knows, people who run concentration camps are always fair, and never act capriciously.

A ginger kid got run over by a lorry near mine the other week. He was in a real bad way. The mother was inconsolable while screaming she wishes it was her instead. Was gut wrenching.

Tried telling the poor cow not to blame herself. Then she said... no no, I wish it was me driving the lorry.


Kid was apparently buried in an unmarked grave.

The Colonel didn't tell them anything that isn't already out there. In fact, there are a few articles in the Bahamian media about the situation.

They had no one to suspect and nowhere to start looking. And I was speaking to some low level guard. Have you seen the typical Caribbean employee? Just about 100% chance he hung up the phone, dismissed it as an annoying reporter trying a lame premise to get info, and didn't want to get up from his chair.
