RIP!
He was legend even if his attire and makeup wasn't to be desired.
wow really
just checked links ...confirmed DD
very sad.
was a huge fan growing up...such a great body of work...what a talented artist....ahead of his time on so many levels...he transformed (actually reinvented) his genre of soft punk
Bowie was a visionary in every sense of the word
saw him live at the Nissan Pavilion in Virginia (late 90's) headlining with Nine Inch Nails...one of the best concerts I've ever seen
RIP Major Tom
what a bummer
a true ICON
Bowie had a huge influence on British culture.
When you make a difference, you deserve a send off.
RIP
A bunch of people think it's a hoax but here's a tweet from his son Duncan:

Just put out a new album and was apparently back with Mick.
Sucks
RIP
I heard a rumor that he wanted this video played at his funeral:
This guy made some top top records
RIP Thin White Duke.
"Let's Dance" was his best imo. Though it's so hard to choose of course
BALLIN'!!
Were you a fan Lew? He seems before your time.
This guy was about art. He changed styles at the risk of losing loyal fans - just cause it interested him. He pursued many different creative/artistic forms of expression outside of music.
He took risks with his career frequently and that never happens now - or frankly, then. You won't see too many like him in your lifetime. I challenge you to cite anyone who gambled career and fan base like this.
Do you know what kind of cancer? Aside from endless excessive drugs he smoked too. Always puzzled me to see singers risk their voice with cigarettes.
Hope the Swedes come up with something new.
RIP.
Maybe the greatest song writer ever. Imaginative, clever, yet very good songs that were easy to listen to.
Its a sad day.
What type of cancer? He gave up every drug he once was addicted to, but not sure of the cigs. Might have been lung. Anyone hear?
Suffered 5 heart attacks and had liver cancer.
I never had much exposure to Bowie growing up, save his current MTV stuff of the day. For whatever reason, the local classic rock station WZLX never played much bowie, or much Beatles for that matter. They didnt ignore them at all or anything like that, but it was only 2 or 3 songs you'd ever hear from them, whereas the entire zeppelin, stones, aerosmith, skynyrd, etc catalogs were fair game. The Beatles I got into my freshman year at UMass, when I picked up the white album in a cd-buying binge. Bowie, tho, wasn;t on my radar.
In 2003 I think, I was in Ireland for a cousin's wedding and the night before we were heading home one of my cousin;s friends was having a party at her family's house, with a full bar setup, with 3-4 beers on tap (for-real bar taps, not the standard "who's got a tap, I got a keg" that I was normally used to), everyone was friendly, and they had Bowie albums on the whole time. Hunky Dory, Heroes, Ziggy Stardust, one after another, full album at a time. I was into it from the first few songs, but as the night went on, I got it, so to speak. I'd never heard that much bowie before and it was immediately clear that he really was the God everyone always talked about.
