New Jersey can be considered the Armpit of America for several reasons. Obviously, the state is famous the horrible odors that emanate from within its borders. All the factories, oil refineries, skunks, and skanks combine to make a unique brand of BO. Also, New Jersey generally has a bad reputation for its pollution, corrupt politicians, mobsters, and, again, the skanks. For these reasons, just as the armpit is one of the least desirable parts of the body, New Jersey is one of the least desirable states. Want even more proof of New Jersey’s status as the Armpit of America? Just look at a map of the United States and you’ll see how New Jersey is geographically the armpit of the nation.
I deal with a lot of people from New Jersey. I can say without prejudice that people from New Jersey are the worst human beings on the planet, followed by New York, Massachusetts and California.

Generally, Canadians are the nicest with mid west and people originally from the south are nice as well. Nothing is worse than the assholes from the Northeast. Its also no coincidence that all the states I mentioned are hard left.
Let's be real, NY>All. Jersey is just a shitty shitty place tbh. Only 3 places I ever go to there:meadow lands, AC, hoboken... otherwise fuck jersey

Sometime in 95 or 96, early summer, me and my girlfriend drove down to 6 flags great adventure, with the safari and shit, for a few days. It was comical how the New Jersey stank appeared almost instantaneously when you entered the state. Obv the whole state doesn't stink, and the gas station rules are charming, but what a fucking first impression that smell used to be.

    Does it still stink, btw?

I remember I was helping my brother move to Florida around five years ago and we stopped at one of those rest area/gas stations on the NJ Turnpike and waited around 20 min to fuel up because literally one guy was pumping gas for three rows of cars and trucks. Granted it was the winter and cold as fuck but I would have much rather pumped it myself and gotten out of dodge.

    It's a unique animal..

I know so many professionally trained chefs and m.b.a. that couldn't make it a year..

It looks like it will sell. There arguing over 20k???.
Il take a couple of months off but I'm 47 y.o. don't want to waste much cash..

I always loved the everyday cash of the service industry.

I see my married friends live off of paychecks and stay home a lot..THAT SUCKS..

I am seriously considering going to Jersey..

I could sublet a condo for 1200$ and rent my spot out for 1700..

    Change of scenery..

Lived the single life for so long. Spend what I want/do what I want..I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW..

I'm sure I could pick up a weekend shift in a food establishment to clear 500$ a week. That's ok for now course I don't feel like working more then part time..

Goto get a resume going. I can't believe what people actually live on..

I was also thinking of opening a very very small place somewhere in Jersey next to office buildings. Only have like five stools and 4 booths. It will mostly take out and delivery.. I think.that would work because I won't have partners but it will cost about 150k(I'll make the store from scratch).

I could give the office managers and bosses free food to kindly have there offices order from me and allow me to cater there meetings..

I also have to make sure it's real close to public transportation. U can sell a lot of coffee and egg sandwiches with that, especially if u have a restroom.

I don't know. I do know there no room for profit in New York and that type of place wouldn't be cost efficient..

I've lived in the Bronx for a long time. It's time for the suburbs. I've done all I can do here..

As regards to a previous post. I'm only a 10 percent owner and the brothers have 90 percent. I HAVE NO SAY.

they were very very good to me and generous. When they found me I was just a bumbling waiter that had the gift of gab and a nervous condition that served me well in this business.. nothing is better then a bunch of hyper active Greeks knocking out orders..

The gentlemen who showed me how to cook was a sailor on Greek cargo ships who worked

I in the galley. Handlebar moustache and all.

I only know the basics, but do them well. I don't make crepes but if u want a French toast from home made challah bread with a side of thick cut bacon and real maple syrup or a tender beef stew with extra gravy and super soft russet potatoes and thick cut soft carrots. I'm your guy.

Or a Souvlaki actually marinated in real olive oil cooked to perfection with home made tzaziki source made from Greek yogurt, sour cream , dill, crushed cucumber and garlic. I'm your guy..

I'm not fancy but I only make real food from real ingredients and I don't go by Obama's nutritional menu. That shit would kill you, but I'm not in the mood to talk politics..

I do have to watch my mouth in.Jersey though. That will suck.

But leave new York I must..

My thoughts are racing.. sorry guys... I just wished I saved at least 150k more..

The Sales Guy opened up a place that only served breakfast and lunch. While the place was generally busy he never could get his costs under control and just cut his losses and went back into sales. He says he lost $50,000 but I believe it was much higher since he eventually had to sell his house and moved into an apartment. He was single so he really was not hurt in the long term.

The other guy, a CPA was a silent partner, but 51% owner with a chef. It was an Italian place, after a year of losses he became very un-silent and began showing up on Friday and Saturday nights and arguing with the chef. I was there one night and you could hear them screaming in the kitchen. One waitress was actually crying and this was a Friday night! Talk about uncomfortable!

Anyway, that placed closed too and he lost a ton of money.
Another well spoken life experience just ignored on this shit hole. I am about ready to kick this forum the curb. I am serious, tired of this shit.

You're going to net 100k as a ten percent owner...nothing to be depressed about there.

    That's a year of income..

    I should have saved more...

If .I had more in savings, I could open my spot without stressing...

"Georges real food, real fast" I already have a trade mark on that..

Do u think.it was the weed, the coke, the pills, the hookers , the top shelf alcohol lthe gambling or the hand full of twenty something girlfriends that did me in.

    "The Spartan"

Thin sliced roast beef on a real Italian hero(not subway) with bacon, sweet pepper, hot peporocino peppers, lett, tomatoes, onion, pickles and topped with a drizzle of real olive oil..

The roast beef will be restaurant cooked.
I tell the butcher to leave the fat on the bottom so when I cook it for 4 hours I baste it.

The bacon is from the butcher and I buy whole slabs and slice it myself. I make nice thick pieces.

I roast my own red peppers..

I don't count the slices of r.b. or bacon or the veggies. I just keep putting until it feels right and can serve it with pride.

U would be surprised. In Manhattan I charge 15$ which is kinda cheap.. but when they make one complaint I throw them out and send them to blimpies to.spend 7.50$ on there r.b. they always come back..

I won't do that in Jersey.. I would actually operate with no salery or profit until they understand the shtick and quality of my place...

I'd prefer to have fewer custermers who appreciate what I'm actually doing for them then a line of druffs(sorry druff)...

Hey c money.. I'm thinking this!!! Would be a more reasonable investment.. say 75k.. beer and poker, pooh.. come on down to Jersey. Let's do this..

    The pooh.
Greek yogurt with fruit walnuts and raisins topped with organic honey..

    Beer and poker..
Sirloin burger topped with.beer battered onion rings served with steak fries.. no letter or Tom.. no veggies

    C money..
24 oz prime rib med rare
Served with oven rst potatoes and asparagus soute with olive oil garlic and cracked pepper

Oh wow, what a stellar post it was. Can't believe it didn't get 40 green reps.

So you're saying restaurants are pretty much always a bad investment. I'm sure you just enlightened at least 1,000 lurkers with that post. Amazing insight bro, amazing!
