It's a pretty great list, obviously trending to mainstream hits because it's Rolling Stone. Their date cutoff was right about when I stopped listening to new hip hop, so that works for me.
Top 2 are just easy, safe picks that are hard to argue with. I love Afrika Bambaattaa at #3. Geto Boys are way too high at #5. 6 through 11 are some of my favorite rappers. Really glad to see Slick Rick getting respect at #13.
The thing that impressed me most is that Nas only got spots 31 and 81. Illmatic might be the most overrated album in hip hop. They put him on par with Missy Elliot. I love Missy, but she's not in that top group with fucking Eric B & Rakim and Public Enemy.
