I know I started a thread a while back asking about sleep aids. Well, now I've been taking 30 mg daily for about 4 months or something. It has def helped me sleep, but im having a few side effects ,and would like to stop taking them. Any suggestions on how to do so?

You got to wean off most sedatives. Wean slow and prepare to toss and turn for awhile. No expedient remedy with that shit unless the side effects are life-threatening variety, in which case your doctor could likely bring you off with something else like restoril that may not give you sides
Ok thanks bcr. I have a dr appt on the 12th I will ask him for a lower dose. Any idea what incriments I should be taking? On 30mg now should I do like 20mg for a period of time and then 15 or 10?
I wouldn't know what's safe. Ask your dr. I've known people to struggle with it and get a restoril script then wean off that, but I have no personal experience with lunesta, so I wouldn't want to guess and fuck you up

I really don't know. I'm in the benzo camp, and you can never quit those cold. Those aren't benzos. If by 120 over 4 months you mean you've taken one every day, I imagine you'll struggle a bit, but I don't know if there's any real health risk like seizures or whatever. If you want to quit like tomorrow, I'd call his office tomorrow morning and I'm sure he'll give you a callback and tell you if you can abruptly stop.

Ok i feel pretty stupid. I've been taking TERMAZEPAM 30mg which is actually restoril(not lunesta) I just googled restoril and apparently it's a benzo....FUCKkkk

Hope coming off them is relatively painless. I know first hand coming off prescription drugs can be fucking horrendous. gl
Also last night I stumbled upon a program/documentary called "Behind the Orange Curtain"... It was about the kids in Orange County all being hooked on Oxycontin, Xanax and various opiate drugs.
Had no idea that the problem was so bad amongst kids. Thought it was mainly an adult problem.
They also reeled off a stat at the end which said 100,000 Americans die each year from prescription drug abuse..
If that stat is even only half true, then that is completely fucking insane.
But you won't hear your politicians calling for a war on these particular type of drugs... Because the big pharmaceuticals are some of the biggest financial contributors to your political parties. Not to mention that some politicians sit on the boards of these companies.
Was a shame the program never touched on that side of it. But still worth watch if not seen.. Plenty of real talk on show.

Take a Benadryl or 2 at bedtime instead. You'll be fine. I don't think you need to wean benzos after a couple of months especially if you haven't been abusing them.

Re: "weak minded pussies", some might argue that not knowing what psychotropic medication you've been inhaling for three months and then asking advice on quitting (read scared or stupid) from PFA members instead of a physician is weak minded. Ya bitch!
