Mike Davis has these greens looking worse than your local muni. Par for the course
I can't bash you too hard because I was also critical of the course but nothing to do with the greens or hole designs. That type of picture could be taken and any renowned course where things just aren't perfect. Also, when was that picture taken? You've now repeated, "the greens are dead" phrase and maybe you know something I don't but grass doesn't die very quickly. Going dormant is not dying. Also, different grasses have different characteristics and react uniquely to certain conditions. Fescue on the greens is new to me on this side of the pond but it's all the rage in the British Isles. Having a green "camera ready" for a big tourney is not going to happen with some types of grasses at certain times of the years.WTF????

The look of the green is perhaps not as pleasing as the typical carpeting laid down every year but that's simply discoloration or it's nature. Poa Annua, known to thrive in the rain forest like conditions of the Pacific North West is also patchy in colour and not as fast as bent but that doesn't make it inferior.
They also "killed" the greens at Pebble Beach(at least once, thinking Tom Kite and Tiger) and they looked like hell but were just fine for their intended purpose.
