Lenny Dykstra sues for libel; Judge is like, "but you're Lenny Dykstra..."

Ron Darling wrote a memoir, and he told some Lenny Dykstra stories, and Lenny sued him for libel. The problems with that included the fact that most of the shit was true, and Lenny talked about a lot of it in his own book, and also how the fuck do you defame Lenny Dykstra?

Dykstra is a mess.

In general it is tough for public figures to successfully sue for libel or slander. Way higher standard required than for ordinary citizens.

This one was dismissed before it got going because Dykstra was being extra ridiculous.

I was just reminiscing about Lenny. He was on Byrant Gumble touting himself as a stock trader genius. Turns out he knew shit and went busto. He had somehow bought Wayne Gretzkys mansion. Before being evicted he shat in every room. This was many years ago.

Dykstra could be very rich now had he done things right.

He had started a successful car wash business (not joking), which was making good money and had a ton of locations. He sold his interest in the business.

His idea for the magazine/club for former and current pro athletes, aimed at getting them to invest their money properly, could have been huge, but as outlined in the article I posted, he fucked it up and it never got off the ground.

And even in absence of that, if he just moderated his personal behavior somewhat, he could have parlayed his outrageous personality into a nation color commentating gig and been hired as a frequent product pitchman, like Charles Barkley has successfully done. (This, by the way, is how Barkley can lose so much gambling and not be busto.)

At this point, Dykstra is toxic and nobody wants to touch him.

The first car wash he opened was in Simi Valley. It was really nice. It had a good sized gift shop, a giant saltwater aquarium and a good sized display of
