You have a better shot this year because the Dodgers are opening the season with all kinds of problems, and they will play another series after this one fairly soon.
Not that the Giants don't have their own issues at the moment.
But at the moment...
- Kenley Jansen is "off" in some way
- Kershaw isn't terrible, but also isn't pitching like himself
- No Justin Turner
- Brandon Morrow defected to Cubs, and Dodgers haven't replaced him with anyone comparable (lol Tom Koehler, injury or no injury)
- The rest of the bats are asleep
- Dave Roberts doesn't realize that Chase Utley should be a coach somewhere and has no business starting a Major League ballgame
To be fair, Dodgers did nothing in the offseason except acquire Matt Kemp in a mutual salary dump, because they wanted to get under the salary cap.
This is pretty much a "coast on what we already have and hope to at least go deep in the playoffs" year, rather than a "try to get over the World Series hump" year.
Not sure what the Giants are doing with all of these signings of over-30 players, given that their lineup is already old.
When Joe Panik is the youngster in your lineup, you know you're in trouble.
